Toman has recruited 15 top 25 classes, including all 11 of his seasons at South Carolina. During his final years with the Gamecocks, he recruited many of the players who were members of the 2010 and 2011 South Carolina National Championship teams. From 2003-2006, three of the four Gamecock recruiting classes were ranked first in the nation by Collegiate Baseball. Toman's 2003, 2005 and 2006 classes were named the top recruiting classes by the publication.

The 2004 South Carolina recruiting class was ranked ninth in the nation by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, while his 2002 class was selected eighth. The 2001 Gamecock class was ranked 10th and the 2000 class eighth best by Collegiate Baseball. The 1997 South Carolina class was ranked 17th and the 1998 and 1999 classes were both ranked 11th.

During his time on the staff in Columbia, S.C., Toman and the Gamecocks made nine NCAA Regional appearances, including eight straight between 2000 and 2007, and three consecutive trips to the College World Series (2002-04). Add in his seven seasons at N.C. State, and Toman has helped lead 14 teams to NCAA Regional appearances.

In addition, South Carolina posted eight straight seasons of 40 or more wins with Toman on the Gamecock coaching staff. During Toman's 11 seasons at South Carolina, he helped the Gamecocks to a combined 500-220 record (.694).

A native of Monroeville, Pa., Toman is married to the former Ashley McLaughlin of Florence, S.C., and lives in Forest, Va. They have three children - Caroline (15), Charlie Mac (12), and Tucker (9). The Tomans are members of the Thomas Road Baptist Church.

I would be ecstatic if USC could lure Monte up to Cola should the job come open. McConnell will fight like hell to keep Lee in town and match cash. baseball is the only real chance for national exposure for the school as hoops has collapsed.

I honestly think Monte sees how long Jordan has been across town at El Cid and the job security Lee has along with being at home will outweigh a temptation to leave. The College has a clear path to NCAAs and if needed could actually host Regionals at the Joe.

Toman's been in Lynchburg for a nice stretch now with no real ties and built that program from the ground up. their new facility is quite a spread. Jim may have hit a ceiling at LU and be more open to making move and avoid any falloff from the current success.

either are more appealing to me than the current situation.

Anyone have thoughts on the weekend rotation going forward? Now that we're down Crowe I think it'll go something like this:

Friday - Wynkoop (obviously)
Saturday - Reagen/Schmidt (I might have put Murray here but he struggled mightily in his last appearances)
Sunday - TBA (Maybe Fiori if he hadn't pitched yet on that particular weekend)

I think you have to keep Widener in the pen, better to have him impact multiple games than just 1. Just concentrating winning G1 & G2 are key imo going forward. All hands should be on deck for Sundays.

And we lose 2-1 because we couldn't hit worth a shite.
