Sorry, I thought the day was over. Premature unpinning.

Just anxious to get baseball up I guess with the coming doom of basketball.

Still nothing on Karamo huh? When I try the periscope link it gives me a message "ended 42 minutes ago" but it says ...

It's a solid class considering how quickly the new staff had to work to pull it together. Now let's look forward to Spring Camp - it's just about a month away now.

Need to coach up the roster and get ready for a new football season: the schedule isn't the toughest we've ever played, and therefor amenable to possibly a winning season with a bowl trip. Then the fun really begins...

I am so frickin' pissed at this staff right now. They really dropped the ball on Karamo ... can't even beat out Temple for a kid.

j/k

This staff did a great job! Waaaaay better than I thought they would finish given how far down we were when they tookover.

So those two, provided they qualify, might still enroll and, if not, be placed by us?

Also, what's the latest on Tyren Jones? Anyone heard anything or is this a wait 'till May and see kinda thing?

Kinlaw is already at Holmes JUCO right now. He got his GED and already enrolled there. He's going to try to do what Dante Sawyer a couple years ago. The way the JUCO Transfer rule is written:
- you have to be at the JUCO 3 consecutive semesters (not including summer terms.)
- so technically, if a HS player gets his GED and EE's at a JUCO in the spring semester; that spring semester, the coming fall semester, and next year's spring semester count as the 3 semesters.
- Provided that he meets the GPA and any academic requirements at the JUCO, Kinlaw would enroll at SC in May-mester or Summer I of 2017. (most likely Summer I session though.) He would be eligible to play for us in '17.

I do not know if Champaigne can EE at Holmes JUCO now though, since school already started. I don't think he is though, b/c we'd have already heard about it.

Exactly, we'll have to wait until May. If his GPA is right, we'll have a spot for him. Although, he could also 'come close' to qualifying this spring semester and may have to stay there Summer I and even Summer II to get his GPA up to the level it needs to be to qualify.

If he can get here Summer I, then that's fine, that was the original plan anyway. If he can get here Summer II session, that's still before or during fall camp, so that's fine too. If he can't get here until after Summer II session, then we'll see if we still have a spot for him. If he doesn't qualify after Summer II session, then it's just not going to happen for him here.

Check this video out in the link. It's a video of Coach Rush Probst from Colquitt County, GA. He's Keil Pollard's HS Coach.

https://www.thestate.com/sports/college/university-of-south-carolina/usc-recruiting/article58150183.html

It was from signing day. Coach Probst is talking about how Keil was getting offers the day before from auburn and uga....and he had the "ability to put more money in his pocket, but he stuck to his gun/heart and chose SC." He later said that had to do with cost of attendance, which is true in auburn's case, but not uga's, we pay more for cost of attendance than they do (on the books.)

not over yet.

3* WDE Dedrion Bacote just became academically eligible from a recent SAT score. He was a guy that nobody thought would qualify as D1 in the past year.

He plays ball up in VA at a 6A school (largest classification in VA) and his (Ocean Lakesteam went 12-1, with their only loss coming in the Quarter Finals to eventual State Runner Up Oscar Smith HS. They have a solid program up there, Tenn Titans WR Justin Hunter played there and 5* DB Lavonta Taylor played there this year. They had three 4* players on their roster last year.

Back to "Bam Bam" Bacote. Nobody thought he would qualify with the NCAA, but now he has the score. ECU already offered and others, like SC are showing interest. He's coming to SC in a couple weeks for a visit.

Last season he had:
93 Total Tackles
22 TFL's
16 Sacks
7 Forced Fumbles
6 Pass Break Ups

https://www.hudl.com/athlete/2754178/highlights/280694425

From the highlight reel. Really long arms, very strong, he mauled OL. Decent but not elite 1st step. Good pursuit and effort on the reel. Great anticipation/instincts, got his hands up to interfere with QB's pass and vision. Solid tackler, wraps up and hits low. Really strong upper body and hand strength. Pulled down a lot of QB's one handed when they were fleeing the pocket. Very disruptive, forced QB's into bad decisions/throws. Definitely a guy who plays above his ranking, but to be fair, nobody thought he was going to qualify.

He won't be able to power through D1 OT's like this though early in his career, but the potential is there. Wrote that he runs a 4.7, but I didn't see him run far enough to justify that and I couldn't find a SPARQ score for him. Although, DL 40 times aren't as important as their 10 yard splits.

BamBam Bacote-Sweat ... good football name. 6-3 225 - he might have LB potential as well, which is what they are really looking for right now. They want bigger LBs that can run. I keep hearing over and over again that they want bigger LBs ... it's a Boom thing.

Boom and Lance recruited him while at Auburn as a LB right?

He'd be a good bonus get for sure.
