Commit JaCorey Morris just bumped to a 247 4*

#188 Overall, #8 ILB, #7 in AL.

auburn and bama offers will now probably come in. Botkin was accurate with his early eval, this guy is going to be a stud. Hopefully we hold onto him. If aub and bama don't offer this spring, I fully expect them to late offer before NSD after they miss on some guys.

God I hope we hang onto McIlwain. Kid is a real talent. Gonna have to fight off Franklin up there at PSU real hard.

Yes, but not as hard as we would have for Palmer. McIlwain has family ties. So if Franklin comes in and negatively recruits SC, McIlwain's Dad will be pissed, we're his school.

Word, I forgot his dad played here.

Still, long road to NSD 2016.

His dad is from SC and went to USC for school, but didn't play ball here...at least that's what I read a while back when he committed.

He got bumped up to a 4* today on Rivals.

4* OLB/Saftey PJ Blue from Alabama has the Gamecocks as his leader...he does have a committable offer from Bama and he was invited to Auburn's Jr Day (but didn't go.)

Botkin doing work in AL.

3* RB CJ Freeman picked up a CB for the Gamecocks. It's SC, Va Tech and WVU...for right now, but I don't know how long he's going to be under the radar.

Jr Year Highlight Reel

I can't figure out why he's a 3* and only has 5 offers, I could only speculate on the reason. However, he's a fantastic RB. He has SEC level speed for a RB, but his best attributes are his acceleration and cutting. He also can't be tackled with one arm or very well up high. He pumps his feet quickly coming through the line. He falls forward on contact. He breaks off tackles and gets two hands on the ball on contact. He can catch the ball, he can adjust his body in mid-air to make catches. He runs north south, but breaks out to the sides with his shoulders facing downfield. He moves laterally extremely well. He runs the ball out of the wildcat, he can run up the middle, he has good hands and can catch a sweep on the run.

I'm just really impressed. I would think his offer list would be huge, I'm curious why it isn't. It's going to be a battle pulling him from Va Tech, they're a childhood favorite of his.

5* DT Derrik Brown names SC in his Top 5. he named georgia his leader, but everyone can make ill informed decisions this early in the process. Hopefully he makes it to our game in Athens this year.

looks to me like he plays in a pretty low quality division from his highlights. I think I also saw a highlight where he barely made it to the endzone before a D lineman. I'm ok with the 3 star rating for now haha.

Looks like he could put some weight on too, but there's plenty of time for that. Great vision though.

SC WR Commit, Kyle Davis, was just named an Under Armor All American.

He's taken a couple trips to georgia and auburn, but remains solid to SC. He's going to take all 5 of his OV's, but our staff is encouraging him to do that.

Nation's #1 Overall player, Rashan Gary is coming to visit SC this spring. He has family down here, hopefully they're Gamecock fans.

4* WR Brad Hawkins from Camden, NJ.

We lead, looks like Mangus and Bubba doing some more good work up north. With our recent history above the Mason-Dixon line, we should be in it until the end with this guy. Most CBs on 247 are for us currently.

Things I noticed: Versatility, Size, and Body Control. Great mix. High-points well from his highlights.

SC is having it's 2nd Jr Day so far this year. This is good in that we only had 1 last year, and this is our 2nd so far this year.

4* OT (possible SDE) Javon Kinlaw, is on commitment watch. I don't think he's a lock to commit, but we're the favorite and he said in an interview this week that he might commit this weekend.

He definitely looks like he is all SC.

Good job on the Alabama LBs. Those are tough to get. It seems like Alabama is always full of elite LBs, and they always stay in state.

Walton was a 1st for us. He had an offer from Auburn and they pushed for him late in the process, but he stayed with us. Now he's starting and earned Defensive MVP honors in the bowl game against Miami.

I'm excited about this Morris guy coming in this class. He missed a year b/c of injury, so he flew under the radar a bit, but he's got explosive speed for his size. He reminds me of a KC Crosby in that we could put him at LB, TE, or FB and he'll do well b/c he's just a really good athlete. I'm sure during or after this season, he'll get that Auburn and/or Bama offer, and then we'll find out how strong the commitment is. He's already a 4* so those guys probably are planning to at least scout him this season.

At some point, these kids have to realize that they can't all play at Bama or Auburn. Hell, Bama has been processing kids for years after selling them on the Jack Linebacker load of BS. Hopefully, LSU's hiring of Steele will help us haul in a couple of big time LBs. Maybe it will help you guys hold on to these two also.

This kid looks pretty good. He needs to get to some camps. I wouldn't be surprised if he picked up a fourth star this summer. His baseball talent should make him even more attractive to SC.

One to Watch for

I watched his highlight reel. He's pretty good, but he has the tendency to overuse the spear tackle and leave his feet. He will get away with that in HS, blowing up 160 lb WR's, but he's got to make sure to wrap up at the next level. He also needs to watch how he turns his hips in coverage situations.

He has speed and good size. He also has solid leaping ability and decent hands from what I saw. He'll be a DB at a D1 school, his academics are solid too.

He's one of the better baseball players in the state for his class, but he's #386 overall nationally. I don't know if we'll ever see him play baseball at SC, our recruiting classes are usually pretty stacked and it's hard to do both sports at the level both coaching staffs demand from their players.
