So based on you being at 1 of 3 metro NYC airports 1 day and 11+ hours before a 9pm Gamecock tipoff, you haven't seen many Carolina fans at the airport. - gotcha.

The first game was about 80% Auburn and basically a home game for them.

Our game was about 50/50 and both fan bases got loud.

Arena was not that packed for either game as well. (well when comparing it to Knicks/Rangers or big College basketball games)

That said, of the 2 games I watched last night, the best player I saw was Auburn's Danjel Purifoy.

That dude can ball.

He's big, strong, athletic and was hitting NBA Range 3's

Huge game tonight at 9 pm. Hope CLA is packed and crazy with Gamecock fans. Gravett is projected to be available to play tonight, per Coach Martin's presser yesterday....

Gravett being available is huge without Thornwell. We struggled without him early against usf

Auburn fans showed up. fricking suck the way we lost

You are right that Purifoy is special. He flashes elite talent when driving at times too but rarely does it

Auburns team is incredibly young and prone to making stupid mistakes though.

Got out rebounded again tonight and lost by two again.

We need Thornwell back. It's clear we aren't going to beat anybody with a pulse without him and I'm not sure many teams without their leading scorer and rebounder could either

I agree that we need Thornwell bad, but what in the hell is wrong with Notice? Complete non-factor lately.

He's always been hot or cold.

In our two losses, he was North Pole cold. We have to have a threat from the outside to loosen up the defense.

Frank said after the game that him hitting shots would be nice but it's essential for him to box out and get the perimeter rebounds and play good defense which he hasn't been doing.

Thornwell does both

Gamecocks played a strong 1st half and dominated, then let Lander out-play them in the 2nd half and ended up winning 90-62...

Huge win for the Gamecocks over UGA on Thornwell's return to the lineup. Sin showed how much of an impact he has on the team - after sitting out the past 6 games, he comes back to score 19 pts, pull down 11 rebounds, and corral 6 steals to lead the way to victory.

That kind of effort in any of the 3 losses USC suffered without him, would have made them 3 wins easily. But its water under the bridge - can't do anything about them now....

With this win, it helps stem the bleeding from the 3 losses. Seton Hall and Clemson were both higher-RPI opponents than UGA, and they would have had us in the driver's seat had we beaten them - instead we lost to both by a combined 5 pts without our top player.

But we came into SEC play last season with a RPI rating of in the top 30 due to being 13-0, but a SOS in the 200s due to the weakness of that OOC schedule. We didn't help ourselves with losses to the weaker SEC teams plus getting swept by UGA. Now it looks like with this win vs UGA we'll be in the top 40 RPI-wise, and with a SOS in the top 50, and that is a substantial improvement.

Now we'll next face 8-5 (0-2) Texas A&M at home Saturday, 8-6 (1-1) Tennessee away next Wednesday, and 9-5 (0-2) Ole Miss at home next Saturday. Texas A&M and Ole Miss are currently the bottom teams in the SEC standings.

Tennessee has improved their play a good bit recently, but IMO we have a great chance to go 3-0 during the next 3 games, to improve to 14-3 (4-0). I have no idea what our chances will be against either UF or UK - those two will be played after the 3 next up on our schedule I listed, although we play UF twice. The 1st game against them will be in Columbia, and we're 24-4 and counting at home starting last season....

Maybe it's just me.

But I think Dozier is gone after this year.

Now that you can get an evaluation from the NBA and still come back to college, I expect that he will at least submit his paperwork and flirt with the draft.

I agree.

But if he continues on this pace I can't see why he wouldn't.

6-6 PGs are tough to find now days.

FWIW, and this is coming from a good place, but FWIW I've been told he's not even contemplating going this year as of now and his plans are to return for at least his Junior year.

He wants his degree before he goes.

But we honor his scholarship don't we?

He can always come back and finish those 24 credits (or however much he needs to graduate) -and we will pay for it.
