We are in the lead for two solid 2015 OL.

PK Article
Junior OL Steven Gonzalez, ****, #8 OG of Union City, NJ continues to call USC his favorite but added, "They're my favorite of those who have offered." This is not to say that Gonzalez favors other schools that have not offered but he wanted to make sure he was understood. "It could change if I get another offer but South Carolina is still going to be way up there," Gonzalez said. The Gamecocks continue to court Gonzalez and he appreciates the school. "I definitely want to try and see if I can get down there for a visit soon," he said. Miami is starting to show more attention visiting him twice at his school last week. "I've been down there for a camp and an unofficial visit," Gonzalez said. "It's a great campus and a great place. I really like their coaches." His next visit will be to Ohio State. "It's the only visit that's set in concrete," he said. "I know I'm going there in the spring." His offers are from USC, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Louisville, Connecticut, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse and Massachusetts.

PK Article
OL Ryan Bates, ****, #21 OT of Warminster, PA plans to make his college decision in the spring of 2014 and right now, of the schools offering him, he likes USC and Penn State the most. "They both have good football programs, good legacies and phenomenal coaching staffs," Bates said. USC is recruiting Bates as a guard and he's in regular contact with recruiter GA Mangus. "I feel like he has a lot of interest in me," Bates said. Mangus did not make it to Bates' school this month but he did see recruiters from Virginia, Miami, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Duke and Syracuse. Bates plans to visit some schools this off season but is not sure where though USC is possible. "They are attractive," he said of the Gamecocks. Bates holds offers from USC, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia, Temple, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Maryland, Duke, Illinois, Pittsburgh and Miami.

SC still in a good position with ***** 2015 CB

PK Article
Junior DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, ***** #4 CB of Jersey City, NJ has attended a camp at USC and plans to return this spring. Fitzpatrick has over 20 offers including USC. He remains in contact with some of the coaches and is showing interest in the Gamecocks. "Coach Grady Brown and coach (G.A.) Mangus are still talking to me," Fitzpatrick said. "We're just building a relationship. They want me to come down this spring so I am trying to work it out." His first trip to Columbia was a positive experience. "It's a great school," he said. "They have a need at my position and it's a great school for defensive backs." His only visit this football season was to Ohio State where he saw the Buckeyes host Penn State. "I went with three of my teammates and it was a great visit," Fitzpatrick said. "The atmosphere was crazy." This winter he plans to visit Maryland, North Carolina, Florida State and Miami. His other offers include Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Connecticut, Rutgers, Boston College, Stanford, Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Syracuse. As a junior, Fitzpatrick totaled 62 tackles, 18 pass deflections, four interceptions and three forced fumbles. He does not have any favorites.

We also are in solid to strong position for several other top-level OL prospects for the 2015 cycle: Mason Veal, Martez Ivey, Zack Bailey (who sounds like a big Oregon fan actually). Still a long ways to go with this class, but we could have an outstanding OL class for this cycle...

Ward is his recruiter so thats a good start

Best case scenario though is a Nick Chubb situation unless he decides he doesn't want to play in a 3-4

'15 recruits reactions to our game.

2015 ATH Nyheim Hynes: "It was great they pulled it off.. The defense stepped up. And the offense controlled the game. Also I loved Coach Spurrier's remark "the state title feels great too."

2015 CB Rashard Causey: "I love South Carolina and their playing style. They earned their spot in my top two.

2015 LB Ricky DeBerry: "Excited!!!! The defense and offense played as a solid unit!!! It gives a great platform to have an outstanding year this fall of 2014."

2015 RB Karan Higdon: "I thought it was awesome. I feel like they improved greatly and they showed it on the field what Gamecock Nation is about."

New offer for '15 GA OL. 4 Star Kaleb Kim

Mangus drove to his school to give the offer in person, Kim really liked that and already has a very positive perception of Mangus. He had a lot of good things to say about our program.

Arden Key 4 Star DE, Jr Yr Highlights

He does a good job shedding OT's. What I was really impressed about was the way he played assignments, he's just not a bull in a china shop. Several times he saw the other end was getting pressure and he covered the RB for the dump off or held position to contain.

Arden Key just put out his Top 5
South Carolina is the leader
followed by
Florida
Florida State
Ole Miss
Auburn

This actually is VERY interesting. Remember when he and Wesley Green said that they are going to play college ball together? They've been saying that since the spring. So the really interesting part of this is KEY DOES NOT LIST UGA. Does that make you also think that Green is going to USC, I know I think that a little more now.

It's happened before where guys, especially those in different classes, make the decision to go to the same school and then it just doesn't happen. There's still another year before Key even gets to sign. It's interesting, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Yep, I remember that. It could happen this year with Cooper and Scott. 247 said though that Key and Green were still planning on playing together in college as of today. We'll see what happens. I'm about 99% sure though that if Green comes to USC, Key will as well.

USC commit WR Dexter Neal was ranked as the #5 Overall performer this past week in the GA Rising Junior Bowl practices/game by 247. He made a lot of plays and showed a lot of ability. I think his ranking will jump higher before next season.

Arden Key has decided to leave MLK HS and is transferring to another HS in his district. It's been said for some time that his HS HC at MLK (a UGA fan and former UGA student,) had been pushing Green and Key to UGA. Green picked up 2 projections to Carolina recently and with the Key school switch, you have to wonder if there was really something to that story/rumor about the HC.

WDE Chauncey Rivers (4*/4* 90/4*/4*)

He's blowing up in recruiting. Was recently offered by aTm, lsu, penn st, texas and illinois. He now has 24 offers.

He had a really solid Jr Season.

Jr Season Stats

49.5 Tackles, 11 Sacks, and 23.5 TFL's. I'm already expecting him to get a solid rating/ranking bump based on these offers, but if a few more come in too, he could be moving inside the Top 100.

'15 4Star WR Michael Bowman from Havelock has USC and NCState as Top 2, however, it was reported that some bad shite went down b/w Havelock's coaches and NCState coaches in regards to D Scott's recruitment. Probably some "you're forcing the kid to go out of state," type shite, mush like we've been accusing the Hilton Head coach of doing, but I'm just speculating.

Either way, Havelock coaches are not in a good spot with NC State coaches.

Spurrier stopped in to see Blackshear today. I think he's been by to see most all the commits/recruits we want in the past couple weeks. I don't remember him being on the road this much before.

I spent some time looking over '15 Gamecock LB Sherrod Pittman's highlights (there's really an ample supply of video to look over.)

Sherrod Pittman is a fricking amazing LB! This guy can play, I mean really play. His instincts are on point, he's a violent tackler, he has great quickness, he has several good moves to shed OL on blitzes, the angles he chooses in pursuit are excellent, I watch him play and I think "here's a guy who really studied that other team on film and applied it."

Wow, he just makes play after play, great job of forcing turnovers, but he just doesn't try to strip, he wraps up first and then goes for the strip (textbook.) He simply forces A LOT of turnovers

He's Farm Strong, the best way I can describe that is it doesn't really matter if he doesn't even line up perfectly for the tackle, he's strong enough in his core to pull RB's backwards or bring them down with 1 arm. I didn't find his bench or squat, but I bet they are decent.

He also plays with a lot of swagger, tons of confidences and that cockiness that the likes of Swearinger and Hampton displayed on the field the past few years.

Around 1:38 in "The One and Only, Jr" video he gives a shoutout to Gamecock Nation.

We must keep him in the fold, he's a high value/huge upside target. I'd be excited to see him compete for PT in his first season. OLB is probably his best position, but he could also play MLB. I don't know if he has the outright 40 yard speed needed to play Spur though.

Big Time new QB offer for 2015. The guy is a dual threat and can play. He's team mates with '15 CB target Minkah Fitzpatrick. When offered he had a lot of good things to say about Mangus and he is very excited to be validated by an offer from Steve Spurrier. He also watched Shaw this season and was really impressed by him. Our main Competition for him will be Ohio State, Miami and Penn State.

https://247sports.com/Player/Brandon-Wimbush-27549

Jr Highlights

Overall, I feel like I just watched a solid/athletic HS dual threat QB. He has a good frame, decent speed, solid agility and lateral movement. I like that he keeps his body/shoulders low when he runs. His release is also solid for dual threat QB, you can tell he works on that and thinks about it. I think he has above par accuracy and decent arm strength. Overall he made good decisions and he was quick to recognize when the LB's left the middle wide open and he would tuck and run...well maybe not tuck.

He would get A LOT more power if he worked on his footwork and motion. He kicks up his foot (really almost swings it) and sometimes even both feet on deep throws. Sometimes he kicks up his backfoot on throws he doesn't even need to. He's losing power on the throws from the backfoot pushing off the ground to early and swinging out. Also that motion keeps his balance off and his shoulders from being square on the release. He also tends to focus on his first option, if they aren't open he starts to think about the run, but if they get open he'll throw. I didn't get the impression he checked down through all receivers that often.

That might seem like a lot to work on, but it's really not, that's what most HS dual threat QB's have to work during their transition to D1. Overall, Brandon has a lot of tools/attributes that you can't teach/coach, he's a playmaker, he not afraid to lower the shoulder on the goal linerun, but he's also smart enough to take an easy out of bounds down. I like him as a QB, he could be the next great Dual Threat QB at USC.

Here are some of the top options for 2015's RB/APB on our board right now.

https://247sports.com/Player/Bryce-Love-15003
Legacy Player, 247 feels we lead.
Jr Highlight reel

Bryce Love is fast, and he does a really good job of breaking tackles. He could improve more by keeping his shoulders facing downfield all the time and putting two hands on the ball before contact/tackle. He needs to get his body lower when he hits the holes b/w the OT's. I really like how elusive he is with the speed. Very fast, very agile, good hips and lateral cuts. He could definitely play in the SEC as a RB.

https://247sports.com/Player/Nyheim-Hines-32688
ATH/APB really fast. He grew up a tater fan, but he's taken notice that we've been beating 'em pretty good and now really likes us.
Jr Highlights
Yep, he's really fast. almost 4200 all purpose yards and 62 TD's and avg'ing over 10 ypc...wow, he is a stat machine.
So after watching the 12+ minute highlight reel of him just running away from everybody...I was really impressed. His top end speed is elite. I thought he had a good first step, but that his 1st 10 yard split wasn't really that explosive (or it appeared that way when he was behind the LOS.) He allows the plays/blockers to develop while keeping his shoulders level and low.

It's his 2nd gear that is as good as it gets. Once he decides to kick it, he's gone, nobody is touching him at a HS level and only the best DB's are going to get him in college. IF Coach Sands could really help him with trusting his OL and reading the blocking earlier, so that he's in that 2nd gear behind the LOS, then he has Reggie Bush ability. Wow, I really like this player, huge upside, just needs a little coaching and a quality D1 S&C program. He could absolutely be an SEC PR/KR as well.
