Just got back ... huge win. Place was full ten minutes into the game and rockin'.
Simmons is a beast - so glad they didn't go down low to him more than they did.
Disappointed to see Silva in foul trouble the whole game but how about Doby!
That was one of the best games I have every seen at the Colonial Center. Sorta reminded me of the old Frank days.
Tickets for the Kentucky game were going for $250.00 (maybe more but I personally witness four go for a grand), a piece afterwards ... and they were Kentucky fans there buying them from scalpers. I actually saw quite a few Kentucky fans out there buying tickets, and quite a few were at the game tonight.

That was the biggest thing that stood out to me, his play in a HUGE spot in the game and he came in and contributed in a huge way.
In 7 minutes he scored 5 pts with an assist & he hit his FT's (3/3). What a moment for him.

Only name i recognize here is Cecil Hurt. He's a Bama guy and he's a prick when it comes to anything SC.
He loves crapping on Columbia and Williams-Brice.

Looking forward to the UK game. They do sport an impressive 4-1 record vs top 25 rpi teams, however, they also sport a 2-5 record on the road.

I know this will sound crazy to some - but much like baseball - basketball polls do not really matter until the first week of March (for baseball it's May) and they take care of themselves at that time.
If we keep winning the polls will take care of themselves and so will the BPI, RPI, M&Ms, FBI and all those other thingamajigs.
Being a Top 6 seed is where we need to be, although Top 5 would be better of course. But even then it really doesn't matter with as mush parity as there is in college basketball these days ... it's all about who gets hot and can win six in a row come tourney time.

I agree with you. the Coach's poll has more legitimacy and relevance but sports writers and entities who employ them do everything to discount the coaches poll in order for theirs to occupy and place of "significance". the bias that exists in sports writers polls exceeds anything the coaches could ever have.
Frank has a great pulse on this Gamecock team and his "live in the moment" and "no outside noise" approach will pay huge dividends.

Well, the women are 2.5 games up with 5 games remaining. I love that we're more than likely about to win our 3 straight conference title and hopefully a 2nd straight SEC-T but damn the better we do the more I can't believe how ahead UConn is.
I mean, damn. We've won like what? 12 or 13 games vs ranked opponents this year? The SEC is pretty damn deep + wins over the likes of UCLA and ASU, but then we get housed by the Huskies.
Hopefully we'll get another shot in the Finals.

UConn women's basketball right now reminds me of UCLA under Wooden in the '60s and 70s. They are very very confident that they are bullet proof plus they go into games with a swagger and they know their opponents are skeered.
The more we play them the less they will intimidate us.
Tennessee and UConn played something like twelve straight years, 22 games total, and I think the series was very streaky, the record something like 13-9 in UConn's favor including the 4-0 record over UT in the National Championship Game, although I think UT won several games against them in the tourney if I remember correctly.
And the series ended after Tennessee won three in a row ... the two coaches had a falling-out about something.
But it took three or four tries back in the mid '90s before Tennessee finally beat UConn, and we'll get ours eventually. The series is going to be continued as long as Staley and Geno are in charge.

Love it we told everyone if we are winning we will show up and no-one believed basketball could strive here. Nice to see it come to fruition.

That was an arse-whippin' ... they beat us like a rented mule.

I was on lunch for the first half and was able to watch on my phone. The looked to be playing right due to the circumstances and pressed a little too much. They will learn to play in these situations until then there will be a learning curve. I also feel the prior 2 games/wins drained them emotionally and physically.

I knew we were in trouble when Carrera missed three of the four FTs on the double-T Calipari got rung-up for. Chat was missing his FTs too. We missed easy baskets early and that set us up for failure against an improving and very talented Ky team who is poised to make a run.
That loss, at home, by 30, will cost us big time in the three letter alphabet rankings.
We're going to have to close very strong from here on out to make a 6 seed or better.

It was Kentucky's day. They are super talented and have a true point guard. Once again, we sucked at defending the perimeter, but they still made the few contested shots as well.
