Here is the thing with Wally.....In most aspects of our program, he is about as connected as Hawgalude-ed.
When Wally puts something out there like this, he usually knows what he is talking about. So he likely has a pretty good source to put that in the states main paper.

Pork Rind Jimmy (aka PRJ or 'the ghost of cookie rojas' or however you know him) has been saying the same thing lately - that Long 'has' his man, PRJ 'believes' it is Gruden, but doesn't 'know' that, just his opinion.

Hawgeye is still obsessed with me being right on the Petrino firing 10 hours before it happened, I see.
We as fans better hop Long has his number one guy secured and a verbal agreement which will be a contract soon or else with all the openings happening. We will be screwed.

Gary Patterson is Long's #1, so if he did in fact get his #1, then it's GP.
There sure is a TON of rumors and articles all about GP too, makes me believe he's the man when there's this much stuff coming out.

If it's Patterson or another coach that will have his current team in a late (end of December or early January) Bowl game we will need a barnstorming recruiting campaign in January. There are still plenty of good players out there who either can be flipped or are waiting until signing day to choose a school. God forbid that we have a mid 30's rated recruiting class this year. Sarcasm\off.
