Where the heck is the guy? He had one kick return for 19 yards against App State and hasn't been heard from since. Why? He was all the rage coming into the season and then just vanishes???

Wims / Godwin / Hardman are all more talented and we aren't passing the ball a ton.

Hardman and Godwin pretty much cover everything he would do.

When was he all the rage? He made the news because he joined the team so late, and was compared to McKenzie at one point because of his size. I don't think anyone saw him being much of an impact this year.

Good depth keeps good players on the bench

There was quite a bit of noise about him on 24/7. I'm a bit shocked he isn't playing more as well but there is only 1 ball.

Exactly. Hard to find many articles, but I did come across this:

quote:

—Ahkil Crumpton’s reputation is for his return ability. That’s the main reason Georgia brought in the 5-9, 175-pound junior college transfer late. He made some plays as a wide receiver working out of the slot as well. Fromm hit him for a 20-yard completion in one portion of practice and then again to a wide open Crumpton over the middle and later it was Crumpton hauling in a pass from Fromm near the end zone and going in the end zone for the touchdown. Crumpton and Terry Godwin were the top punt returners. Crumpton showed good explosion. Swift and Mecole Hardman also were back for punts.

Since we predominantly run the ball, he is not going to be needed as much.

I know that sounds obvious, but he’s not going to be a good blocker at his size. If we would have run the same style of offense last year, I don’t think we would have seen as much as McKenzie.

Don’t get me wrong, McKenzie is more talented as far as I’m aware than Crumpton, but we needed Isaiah to make plays for us. We have Swift/Mecole to fill that spot this year.

There was a quote from Eason saying something along the lines of it feeling like Isaiah never left with Crumpton on the field. When the starter compares incoming guys to one of the more productive receivers on the team it gets people excited.

I would think (unless hes in the dog house) we will see him eventually. They probably have a few plays set aside for him. Might see him in the UF or Auburn game?

Exactly. Crumpton is stuck behind two 5-stars.

It is weird he's not getting another look considering Hardman has had some bad drops and they play the same position.

Kirby had said Akhil doesn't drop the ball so.....

Mecole was taking 2nd team reps in the slot today due to his drops...looks like we are going with Wims and Ridley on the outside with Godwin playing the slot this week

Better start making the most of his opportunities.

Run blocking. That's all that's holding him back. Hopefully they put him some designs in, because he can go. Maybe he'll get a shot with the lead at a return in the next few weeks.
