Apparently some kind of shite storm went down with this.

It leaked that he would be the head coach, then the president said no, now he's the head coach?

The frick? Anyone know what happened?

No idea, I did see he tweeted today that he was happy to be "entrenched" somewhere... which is just weird if you ask me.

Apparently alumni players wanted one of their own (Scott Foxhall) to be the new coach.

The president told the AD that he couldn't hire Holbrook and now this. Weird

Multiple alumni signed a letter that was sent to the president in support of former CofC alumni and now UNC asst. coach Foxhall. They protested that the AD's search and apparent finding of Holbrook as the next HC didn't ever include their input, and they made some vague claim about "questionable recruiting practices" conducted by Holbrook while he was at USC.

Then there was some other reports that the AD also didn't consult the president either, which would be odd if true. But now apparently the shitstorm has settled, and Holbrook is now officially the HC at CofC.

Not the most glorious way to ride in as the savior of a college baseball program...

I heard on 107.5 The Game this week that Holbrook has withdrawn his name from consideration. No sources were sighted but it was conveyed as fact. What's the deal with that?

McConnell fricked this up. Yet another boondoggle coaching search for the school.

Evidently Brett Gardner personally called McConnell various times throughout the week along with other former CofC players pleading for Foxhall.

McConnell initially caved, then when that narrative started to make national waves he reversed his decision again and approved Holbrook.

McConnell needs to let the AD do his fricking job in the future. CofC would be in the same spot with having Holbrook as the coach, yet th school would have no egg on its face.

I can only imagine how Holbrook feels about the situation knowing that over 50 former players, many in the majors, have no support for him, and the damn college president shows a lack of faith in him by this carousel.

Boondoggle aside I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I mean, despite what we thought of him as a coach he is a good man and I'm glad he found another HC gig.

With that said, he may not have been that good for us, but he wasn't so bad that I like the idea of competing against him so much. With particular emphasis on the recruiting trail (which seemed to be his MO).

I get it man, tough spot for USC fans, I was just rambling as a CofC alum.

Any game that CofC play between both Clemson and USC at this point will be awkward as shite between Monte Lee and/or Holbrook situation.

But I guess that'll add even more intrigue to what has become one of the best states in the nation for college baseball.
