Bear Bryant coached 76 games in his first 7 seasons with the Tide (1958-1964). In that time frame, he amassed a record of 60-11-5. A winning percentage of .833. In that same time frame, he won 2 SEC championships and 2 national championships. He was also 3-2-1 in bowl games.

Nick Saban, assuming he wins the Sugar Bowl in January, will have coached 94 games in his first 7 seasons with the Tide (2007-2013). In that time frame, he will have amassed a record of 80-14. A winning percentage of .851. In that same time frame, he has won 2 SEC championships and 3 national championships. He will be 6-1 in bowl games should he win the Sugar Bowl in January.

Over 30 years after his death, and Coach Bryant is still the standard to which all other coaches are compared.

Not just as coaches or leaders, but as MEN. No, the Bear wasn't perfect, he had his faults, demons and shortcomings.... but of the handful of people I want my son to look up to (and so did I as a boy), it's hard to find someone like Paul Bryant.
