Are we just young and inexperienced or is it bad coaching? IMO it's a mix of both.

This plus special teams keeps putting them in bad positions

It's terribad!!

When you consider some of our starting linebackers were playing high school offenses this time last year... Yea they look confused, lost and down right awful. I watch a safety run across the face of a receiver on a slant to get to a flare route and that same receiver caught the pass right after he passed and ran 40 yards with it.

Vic Hampton is supposed to be the veteran leader and we should just name him toast, because KY burned him multiple times last night and missed on quite a few more chances when he released his receiver to jump a underneath route.

Now tenn is looking like they are heating up and uf too. If our defense doesn't get a clue soon, we could be looking at much more than 2 losses.

We can't stop the run and to keep our db's from getting beat deep we play a soft zone. When was the last time you've seen us blitz or play man? Opposing teams recognize this which makes it easier for them and harder on our guys.

Hampton right now is getting treated like Gilmore (his last season here). By far our best cover corner but all we did was play zone and at times he was out of place covering someone else's man and got burned.

We did blitz twice last night, it worked both times. We've been getting great pressure the past 4 years with only rushing 4, so we haven't had to blitz as much.

Basically the offense has to score every possession in the first half. That way when either of the following happens it won't matter.

-The defense finally opens up and just shits all over itself
-The offense suddenly decides that 3 pointers are the shite as it does in the second half.

I want to believe it's more youth and inexperience than coaching. We have the youngest team in the country. Replacing almost the entire LB corps and nearly half of our other starters on D is going cause a drop off, no matter who you are. There have been flashes of what they are capable of, but there have also been some head scratchers as well.

Taking all that in, we're still in the top half of the conference in YPG and Y/Attempt. The scoring is a combination of miscues on D and poor situations they are being given due to turnovers on special teams and the offense.

I believe it will get better as the season progresses and these kids get snaps.
