Freeze has incentives that can get him above 3 mil. For example, he gets a $100,000 for every SEC win.

I love his contract. It actually awards for truly good performance. Nutt was getting 2.8mil and not doing shite.

To the Burner who questioned Franklin's contract, according to the scuttlebutt, Franklin was contacted regarding every opening this year, including Auburn. He did not even take an interview. I don't think you would find many Vandy football friendly alums who would complain about his salary. He has changed a 75 year old mindset at Vandy - we're the SEC's cute, bright little brother. Not as long as he's there and it will take a really big brand to get him away and it ain't Auburn.

Boom just recently had his asst coaches get raises and thats a smart move. Boom is at his dream job...he grew up in Gainesville as a kid. $$ isnt everything...plus Im sure he has a helluva benefit package to rival anyones.

After 2013 season when it becomes obvious to the college football world that Boom has built a winning program at UF...money will follow. He isnt going anywhere else one way or the other.

I don't think they could have done it this past time. They were in shambles and they are also having to directly compete with Saban more than anyone. No truly big name coach was going to come in there during this time and potentially ruin his career (no offense Aubs).

We could've, actually. Many coaches were prepared to take the job if they got full control of the program. Of course, Jacobs told them no, and while I love Gus, we hired a Sun Belt coach.

Funny. When LSU hired Nick Saban away from Michigan State after the 1999 season, it was for $1.6 million a year, making him one of the top 5 paid coaches in the country and at least one of the top 2 or 3 paid coaches in the SEC. Today, that salary would be the lowest in the SEC, a full 20% lower than the current lowest.

Coaches' salaries are completely out of hand.

I am not talking about fans. Fans will continue to pay to attend games regardless. My post was strictly from an administration standpoint. You cannot fire a guy that recruits in the 10 ten year after year, consistently wins 10 games a year, and has an all time winning percentage of .750, and you are paying him $2 million less than a guy he came within 5 yards of beating for the SEC crown. Think logically.

You can if you want to win a national title.

It is more than just the coaches. What AD is worth 1,000,000 per year? Since when have so many in the AD's office staff worth jumped to 100,000 + per year?

All that donor money is not going to the athletes but to bloated staffs.

As stated before in this thread; that is the exact type of thinking (from an administration standpoint) that set the University of Tennessee back 5-7 years. Nick Saban is making $5 million/year because he has national titles. Richt is making $3 million because he does not. But you pay a guy middle of the road money and he is annually successful, percentages tell you that you are on the right track to reaching the National title. There is only 1 national title every year and 120 schools vying for it. I know most Alabama fans are jaded, but the MNC is a REALLY difficult goal to achieve.
