Who on our coaching staff is in danger of being hired away?

Was Bisaccia the only guy we would've had to worry about?

I mean, looking our staff starting with the defensive side, we've got four guys who are all getting on up there in age - one who has come out and said he's here to retire, and the other three have all said they want to make sure they work together

The offensive side, we've got

Lashlee - Does he get hired away as a HC at somepoint? Or does he plan on sticking here with Gus?
Craig - He's already "Co-Offensive Coordinator", and maybe this is just me, but I don't see him leaving his alma mater for an OC job, especially when I bet we'd be willing to match any sort of coordinator money he'd be offered
Horton - I'm not worried. Call it a hunch.
Grimes - Dude's old as dirt for a coach and I can't imagine he'd want to keep job-hopping for much longer
Fountain - I got nothing

What time frame are we talking here? If within the next two years I am not worried about any leaving. Rich was the only one I knew would probably leave soon.

I'm thinking 3-5 years here

Coordinators are usually the first to go. I would say we are safe for at least 3 years. Lashlee is still really young. Craig does not have extensive experience yet and neither does Lashlee. Ellis looks like he wants to settle down, hes up in age.

Smith or Harbison would be the most probable of leaving early, IMO.

Only two?

Actually, strike that. If he can get us 2 titles in the one season left of the BCS, I guess I can be happy with that

Lashlee
Not going anywhere anytime soon as long as the offense succeeds.

Craig
He will probably go somewhere else as his own OC if the offense succeeds. 3 or 4 years for him.

I don't know about any of the others you listed.

I don't think any on the defensive side will be taking other opportunities, but guys like Harbison and Garner could be DC opportunities and take them. Both Smith and Garner were at their last coaching stops for extended periods of time that stretched over multiple coaching staffs, I believe.

As mentioned above, Craig seems like the most likely candidate... I could see him heading back to FSU as OC under Fisher.

I've thought about that, and I think it would be interesting to see if he brings the HUNH back with him

Garner has said this is his last coaching stop

It's all speculation.... coaches say all kinds of things that don't end up happening. And who knows, Garner might not gell with Johnson and/or Malzahn and the rest of the staff... there are a hundred factors that could play into it.

With that said, I don't think he's in any danger of leaving... he'd probably get HC opportunity before DC, IMO (he was a candidate here in 08).

Lashlee might try to get out from Malzahn's shadow if the offense is successful, in the future... similar to what Paul Petrino did, going from OC at Ark to OC at Illinois.

Personally, I'm just hoping that we don't want them all gone in the next 3-5 years.

Funny thing, the one guy (besides Gustav) on the previous staff that nearly everyone wanted gone after year one (Boulware) is the only one almost everyone would like to see back.

As long as we don't lose the bagman, I think we'll be OK

yep... and i wish he was still on staff right now. Bouleware is a great example of how fans rush to judgement based on incomplete information.

I really like this staff as it's put together right now... as crazy as it seems, this staff will be better at recruiting than Chizik's, IMO. I think Malzahn will have us in the 8-9 win range pretty quickly... my question will be, can he get us back to championship level?
