Man if we had him and Kingsley this year.....

He has a good stroke, but he's lowering the ball on his spin move as he turns to the basket, which would give the defender more of a chance to swipe at the ball as he raises the ball for his shot while also slowing down his release. I think he should keep it more at chest level and point his elbows out a little to create space and speed up his shot. That's just my opinion though and I'm no expert on big man, back to the basket basketball.

A little thin but runs the court very well. Perfect fit for Anderson's system IMO.

Yeah that's evident in your post.
Not to be a dick, what you said is just not how it's done at any level. YouTube some Kevin Garnett clips as he does the exact same thing to create separation, he doesn't just lower the ball he lowers it foward to back the defender off as he starts to go up.
KG is one of the best turnaround jumpshooters in NBA history, go watch a few clips and Portis is a clone. Great touch.

I don't see how lowering the ball as you begin your spin backs the defender off, but I'll take your word for it and look for it next time I see some live action. It may make more sense when I see it done against someone instead of just open space in a shoot around.
edit: Ok, just watch some Garnett highlights. He does do that, but when he does he's either fading away or spinning past somebody so that he has a clear path to the basket. I was thinking Portis was using that move to go straight up over someone without a fade or without spinning past them so that he would have a defender right in his grill as he's trying to bring the ball up. In the Portis video, he wasn't fading, and he wasn't going that hard or fast as if he were spinning around someone toward the basket, but I'm sure in live action he goes much harder and it works for him. Like I said, I'm no expert. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I don't see commentator/analyst in his future.
