Tonight at a Christmas party I was talking to one of the team doctors with MSU who I know well and he was pretty down (like most of us) on how our season ended up going. He says the Gator bowl is a lot bigger then most State fans think. He said that if we lose he think Kailo and a few more may jump ship and flip but that if we win we could pull in them plus some. What do you guys think about how big a win/loss could be for us going forward and with recruits?

Also said he was eating with Mullen and staff at his house the other day and they compared Chris Jones to Julius Peppers saying that they think he could end up being a top 3 player in the class and could easily end up being the #1 pick in the NFL draft eventually

Also said Brewster is the best coach we have on staff and that Dak Prescott is the future/best player on the team no doubt.

I don't put much stock in an individual game swaying a recruit either way -- If they play that card, they were just looking for an excuse to go elsewhere anyway...

Good info otherwise. GOT to keep Brewster around. Hope Mack stays at Texas forever -- because the Horns want him back in some capacity. He has a "like brothers" rift with Mack that prevents him from ever coaching under him again...

Yeah I agree completely, I would not be against at all looking at moving him up to say offensive coordinator or something of a higher roll to keep him around.

Crazy that the guy who will probably shatter every passing record in the books for us will likely have far less success than his backup. Dak is the quarterback to take Mullen's offense to the next level.

Exactly what we were talking about tonight. He brought up the point that at MSU we have to have a QB who can scramble and pick up yards with his legs. Every defense knows that Russell is not going to scramble and be able to pick up 10-15 yards a few times a game

I don't think the loyalty of any recruit hinges on this game. What would a loss in the Gator bowl really change?

-Our record? (90% of recruits don't even know our record)

-National Exposure? ( Win or lose, we were there. Recent history leads me to believe 5-6 of our games will be televised nationally for some time to come.)

Very true, I think the biggest thing a bowl win can do for a team is give them a lot of momentum heading into the off season and in our case give us a 9 win season which we haven't had in a long time

Exactly... And they will essentially be playing in two bowl games in a row -- with the Oklahoma St game on the horizon. I expect us to come out with a chip on our shoulder in the Gator Bowl for the first real time all season... That game is going to tell us alot about what we can expect in our future.

I will be interested to see how our coordinators do with all this time to prepare. Will our defense still be soft and will our offense be as predictable as normal
