How far were we from getting Dupree?

I watched the 30 for 30 on him last night.
I came in a little late. But, I don't recall them having us in the mix. While doing some of my own research, I found where Jackie (last year at Pitt) recruited him. Apparently, Jackie claims that he told Marcus to go to Oklahoma. LINK

The only school in Mississippi that had a chance was USM. From my understanding Ole Miss and State weren't even in the running.

That is correct Henry.
If you guys get a chance read the book The Courting of Marcus Dupree by Willie Morris. It goes into the story WAY deeper than the 30 for 30. The 3 that were in the mix were USM, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Yeah, that was the case according to 30 for 30. I was just wondering if there was anything that they left out. I read somewhere that there were reports of us having a special fund in place for him.

Didn't an Oklahoma recruiter buy a house like 3 blocks from him?

I wonder if Jackie offered him the money.

yeah, Dupree is lying out of his arse to say he didn't get paid. And lied his arse off about some school offering 250,000/yr to play. You could buy an entire O line in Alabama for a quarter million today. That was like a million bucks back then.
