Spot on.

Regular ANA were faced with the choice of fighting till they ran out of supplies and were killed or just giving up.

Not many of us would choose option A.

It's been reported by several vets who served there that the Afghan forces were often under / not paid, suffered repeated shortages of food & supplies, officers who were openly corrupt, etc.As a result, many of those in the army became disenchanted over time & came to only care about themselves & their families. It's not nearly as simple as calling them cowards.

Especially if you'd been abandoned by your government/Chain of Command.
