South Carolina and Texas Baseball both “settled” on G5 coaches after fans were convinced they weren’t beneath hiring a top name

Kentucky Basketball fans thought they were getting Billy Donovan before “settling” on a G5 coach

Miami FB, USC FB...

These are all off the top of my head...and these are all teams of great historical provenance. Ya know, like LSU baseball

Except we were in a CWS final a few years ago in a super regional this year. Our facilities and attendance is still top 10 with top 5 recruiting classes and a group of freshman and sophomores that are proven, with experience and have the potential to be great. One is not like the other

Yea I was hoping that wasn’t where you were headed but at least I know your true intentions now

Do you think Woodward is waiting bc he’s being turned down ? Why would he not have just hired a G5 coach 2-3 weeks ago ?

Texas hiring Charlie Strong was questionable but Herman was the hottest head coaching name out there when he was hired.

The FSU football job, right now, is not the job the LSU baseball job is comparatively. There are plenty of jobs better than that job, especially with the state of that program and the subpar facilities. There's a reason Jimbo left.

Tennessee football hasn't been a destinatioin job in a long, long time

South Carolina hired exactly who they wanted to hire when Ray Tanner retired. The hire just blew up in their faces.

Kentucky didn't "settle on" John Calipari

A "G5 coach" doesn't have any meaning in college basketball. Memphis was in the national title game the year Calipari left.

Miami has been a dead program for awhile. USC hired a coach away from a top 15 program (Tennessee) while on probation. Sarkisian was also one of the hottest head coaches in the sport when they hired him.
