One of the earliest lessons from my father: Son sometimes you will fail and sometimes life is not fair. Do not let that define you. Take responsibility for your life and do something about it. Find a solution, make a plan, and implement it. Rinse and repeat if necessary. I guess this was part of my white privilege.
