Moving to Shreveport for work in March. Never really been there before, so I was wondering what the golf scene is like. Any recs for some decent, reasonably affordable courses nearby? I would consider getting a non-resident membership if I can find a nice course that offers it.

Stonebridge, Trace or Eastridge are the best, all expensive.

Shreveport golf has been in a decline since 2000 or so

Really depends on your budget. I think StoneBridge is the cheapest membership wise. EastRidge membership includes access to 265.

Southern Trace's members recently bought back the club from Club Corp which ran it into the ground. The difference in the course from April to now is truly amazing. In April it was pathetic. In 15-18 months it'll be back to the course that hosted a Nike/Buy.com/Web.com/Korn Ferry event.

They're about to put a state of the art irrigation system in. The clubhouse is going to be renovated to a certain extent. The just hired an executive chef to overhaul the menu. It's going to take some time, but it'll be the best course in Shreveport again very soon.

Get the membership to Eastridge which also gets you membership to 265, David Toms' training facility. They are both great facilities.

I think for non-res it's $308 per month.

On weekends you can always make the hour trip over to Gladewater, Texas and hit up Tempest. Incredible course.

They have been rebuilding through a non profit but querbes is the city oldest course, fun, and a family legend of ours.

I’ve played southern trace with friends and clients that are members and I think it’s a great course that I wish we had similar in BR area - I guess UC is comparable.
My friend did mention that eventually the greens will need to be replaced- I guess it’s common knowledge that they are built in a bowl shape and the greens will have to be built up.
