A black friend I’ve been (relatively) close with for nearly 25 years has a steady job for the first time since I’ve known him, and has for the past 18 months. He’s even developing (legit) side-businesses. This is a guy who was shady much of his life and did time for selling drugs. But he’s working 40+/week at a job he likes, supporting his family better than he ever did the other way.

He hates Trump. Has no idea why.

I’m going to have a talk with him before November and he’ll make the right choice for America (if he can’t vote due to record, I’ll convince him to convince family and friends). If he is eloquent enough in explaining it to his family or wherever was feeding him the BS he’d spout off to me that was so far from reality that I just declined to offer any reply. I changed the topic to sports, just wasn’t feeling up to it that day.

I’m in a good position right now to not just sway his voting preferences by exposing him
to truth and exposing lies on TV and in papers. I’m actually really good at that — explaining political realities in general, like scary good. If I were a politician I’d be afraid of myself ever rising to top office.

I’m gonna get involved this cycle and do my part to make sure Trump wins the black vote in my district this November (he’ll win LA anyway, end game is to help Trump to turn them
Anti-Democrat by exposing them to actual democrat policy and Trump’s record in contrast to dem policy.

I’ve become close with everyone from the street dealer to the preacher in that community. They’re still anti-Trump (mostly), but I personally like my odds. Plan is to get a couple in each sub-demographic to buy in and spread the message.

I can’t make this following statement because even though in demographic terms (looking only at numbers, past strategies and past results) the statement is 100% true, the strategy will work for the exact reasons I can’t say, and even though people of all races study this stuff for a living, if I said it my comments would be forever (intentionally and intellectually dishonestly) distorted and misconstrued. The statement has to do with Machismo and getting people within the community to spread the good message. It assumes those spreading the message are persuaded to do so via one-on-one conversations that respectfully plant seeds of thought that grow into people whose brains have been liberated. Draw your own conclusions about the redacted statement.

This isn't race related, but it touches on the same mentality.

I'm watching an interview with Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) talking about why he asked Trump to stop using their song "We're Not Gonna Take It" at his rallies.

He said that he and Trump were long-time friends who did a lot of charity work together, but he just could not stand with Trump because...

"I'm pro First Amendment. I'm pro Second Amendment. I'm a concealed carrier. I'm also Pro-Choice. And by pro-choice, I mean on everything."

I want to grab that fricker and shake him, asking, who do you think will take away more of your choices, Trump or the Democrat nominee? It's very difficult to pop the bubble of ignorance people like Snider live in. It's a holdover from when rockers viewed conservatives as religious book burners.

It also makes me wonder if the death of rock-n-roll isn't partially due to guys like Snider losing touch with what made rock rebellious and attractive to young people in the first place. That stuff still appeals to young people today, but instead of singing about heartbreak or fighting the system, they rap about banging hoes and shooting foes.
