Two reasons: nobody is coming after him, and why does he deserve one? Failing to score on Bama twice and only one TD in 3 seasons is pitiful. Miles can do better than that. And nobody is coming after O. All another contract would do is make it harder to great rid of him of things go south. Let him finish next season before any talk of that is serious. I don’t know why local guys around here think he gets one.

The question here is not how do we beat Bama...it’s how do we get a point? If he’s shutout again in Tuscaloosa next year with Ensminger I consider that strike 3 and both gotta go.

Go hire Freeze or Briles and revamp this bitch or get out.

While I have been very critical of 0, getting rid of him at this point and getting into this cycle of switching coaches every year will destroy any semblance of culture we have and send us into Tennessee/usc depths

Coach O will get an extension. You'll just have to put up with him for a while.

Very good chance of winning out and finishing in the top ten this year.

10 wins is a 1-year rolling extension. Period.

You cats can "not like" that all you want.

10 wins do not just "happen".

What do you tell the next guy? "Win 11 games or you're fricking fired!"

The reason he would get an extension is for recruiting purposes. If O were to be a lame duck going into next year the negative recruiting would kill us. Think people, an extension does not mean larger buyout or that we can't fire him anyway.

Coaches and agents have created this narrative that they can’t recruit with less than 5 years on their contract.

Deserved or not, Orgerons extension is a 100% lock to be done

As long as the buyout isn’t jacked up, this shouldn’t mean much

As a practical matter, I agree with you. There isn't a single power conf. school in America looking to hire Orgeron, even if he puts together a 10 or 11 win season. But, after this season he will have 3 years left on his deal. If that is still the case, rival coaches are going to tell recruits to not sign with LSU because O won't be there all four years of their stay at LSU. Disingenuous? Sure. But that's reality.

Still, I give him the one year extension with ZERO raise. LSU is O's ONLY market. Giving him a raise means you are simply bidding against yourself (which will likely happen because you can't discount how dumb an AD Alleva is)

Less worried about the years on the deal than I am the buyout, just make it feasible to get out of after 2020 if needed and I’m good

No, he shouldn't get an extension.

Why?

he's in the middle of his second season of a 5 year contract.

Extension contracts should not be on the table until after year 3 or middle of year 4.

YAW YAW isnt going anywhere and he can enjoy his 3.5mm per year for 2/3 more years.

LSU is still paying the previous staff bc of ridiculous extensions and buyouts. They were also fired for dreadful offense production, losing to Alabama and 9-3 seasons.

I don't know the details of CEO's contract but Joe better not put LSU (Athletic Department) on the hook for some bull shite contract extension. I say this and I lean towards sticking with Coach O. I believe the program is moving in the right direction. Maybe not as quick as I would like but moving in the right direction nonetheless.

ed orgeron is the best coach we have had before saban and after saban. Stop with all this anti coaching bull shite. There are 125 other programs envious of our program. This shite is ridiculous

The same people are in charge who decided we needed to offer Coach O a $10 million buyout to entice him to be the head coach at LSU when no other power 5 school in the country would have offered him their head coaching job. Sadly, I don’t put anything pass These guys.

Alleva was giving him an extension if he went 7 - 5 so book another year ++ to O and probably raking out another million ++
Get used to couple losses per year. It is what it is.

I was never for O getting the job. With that being said, he has actually surprised me this season. At this point I am ok with keeping him with one stipulation: Bring in a Offensive Coordinatorthatshares the same offensive philosophy as O wants. Steve did a good jobbin trying to give O that type of offense but you cant just design and coordinate an offense that isnt your forte. We need someone who can implement RPOs, Spread concepts, etc and most importantly, someone who can coach QBs or mold an offense around a QBs strengths. If LSU truly is dedicated to winning, they need to make this happen.
