Yes just can't purchase it or the ammo for it. He can possess it.

LRS 14:95 is where you can see most of firearms laws for state of La.

§95.8. Illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile

A. It is unlawful for any person who has not attained the age of seventeen years knowingly to possess any handgun on his person. Any person possessing any handgun in violation of this Section commits the offense of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

where are you seeing this? i don't know the answer but all i can find is he can possess long rifles and shotguns. never mentions handguns.

Which is total bull shite. What is pistol ammo? They make 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, etc rifles.

Another question. If you keep a pistol in your center console of your vehicle, is that considered concealed carry-i.e., would you need a concealed carry permit for this to be legal?
