I'm potentially selling my vehicle today and signing the title over to the buyer. However, we're meeting around 5:30 when most public notaries are closed. I went to a lawyer in my office building to get it notarized beforehand but he wasn't confident on what to do since the odometer and buyer info wasn't filled in yet. I didn't want to fill it in because what if the buyer backs out.

My question is... Are you solely notarizing my signature? Or that I provided the odometer reading as well?

Notarizing YOUR signature as certifying what's in the document. If the document is incomplete he/she cannot do that.

Technically you all need to be together and do it in one sitting.

Sometimes a notary will do what you are asking about if they know/trust you.

They're certifying that what you put there is correct. Can't do that when it's blank.

Yeah, he/she can't do that.
