I hope thats the direction they're going in. It's been my theory that there will be 7 survivors, or somehow the Faith of the 7 gods will be the most prominent characters towards the end of the show, and will be the ones that are the most responsible for defeating the Others.
The Father- Tyrion?
The Mother- Cerci/Dany?
The Warrior- The Hound/ Jamie/Jon Snow?
The Smith- Gendry. I can't think of who els this could be.
The Maid- Sansa?
The Crone- Old Nan?
The Stranger- Arya
I've been playing with this idea since Religion (and prophecies) are such a big deal, and the 7 is really the only religion that doesn't have anything supernatural about it.

I hadn't thought of the 7, but:
The Mother - Dany (Mother of Dragons)
The Father - Jaime (True father of the "Baratheon" kids)
The Maid - Brienne (Maid of Tarth)
The Crone - Melisandre (no explanation needed)
The Warrior - Grey Worm (or Jorah, but Jorah is a Northman)
The Stranger - Sandor (even his horse was named "Stranger")
The Smith - Gendry (obvious)
Jon, Arya, Sansa and Bran keep the Old Gods.

Lord of Light- vested interest in Jon, revived him
Many Faced God- operating through Arya in this quest
Old Gods- operating through Bran in this quest
What have the 7 done, other than have their hold on the populace broken by Cersei? Serious question.
Do they even have a mention of the Night King in their teachings, or is their faith perhaps just a distraction from the active gods?
