Smart's change was a known event. Should be obvious.

You are forgetting the fact that Herman and his agent PLAYED LSU and Alleva. Alleva etal said that 10-12 coaches were evaluted. Unless you have some "inside" info on that aspect of the search, then we have to go on what we have about Herman and Coach O. When you get to the end of the deal, when the other side pulls a stunt like Herman's agent did Thursday, things change quickly. Obviously, Coach O had the inside track.

Herman got the money from Texas, but he also got the problems that are considerable from the meddling boosters. Many people think that they can overcome those kinds of problems. It seldom happens that way.

Yea when Jimbo and Herman fell through there was absolute zero contingency other than settling for O.

Herman is still young and about to meet his first major Waterloo. Let's see if he can pick himself up afterwards and learn from it.
