IMHO.. The reason #weed is not legal. No one in recorded history has ever died from smoking to much pot

Weed is better than most legal substances consumed by half the worlds population daily. Alcohol and Tabacoo um.. yes hands down every day of the week.

So what's the deal?

Yes I'm high and am going to bed. These are my final thoughts for the OT.

Because. Money, big pharma, lobbies. Particularly the tobacco and cotton lobbies in DC in the 30's, has always stood to be mny theory.

They're about to make fricking kratom illegal at the end of the month. What a bunch of morons.

All drugs should be legal for adults.

All companies / organizations should be able to enforce their individual drug policies for employees as they wish.

Driving while high should be illegal.

etc.

Because big pharmaceutical companies lobby congress to keep it illegal. If it were legal it would be a much cheaper and healthier alternative than the most common prescription pain killers.

Big alcohol companies also lobby to keep it legal because studies have shown that alcohol consumption would drop drastically if weed were legalized

Because small government conservatives are more rare than the big government republicans.

I have a theory that some might dismiss but I believe possesses some merit.

Tobacco is a very labor intensive crop. There are few people that possess the capital, labor, and technology needed to harvest tobacco and covert it to cigarettes or other products.

Because only major tobacco companies can produce cigarettes or tobacco products, it is easier for the federal government to regulate it and collect excise and sales taxes on it.

As much as people like to shite on tobacco for its detrimental health impacts, alcohol isn't far off. The fact is that many individuals lack the capacity to consume alcohol in adequate portions without endangering themself or others. Alcohol consumption in above average doses routinely results in violent and erratic behavior which does more harm than good.

Meanwhile, marijuana lacks many of the chronic diseases attributed to the other two drugs. It is a relatively low labor intensive crop which can be harvested by individuals and small groups. Based on my understanding, it's something that is quite easy to produce and consume or sell. I have admittedly never smoked it, nor do I know the specifics of its legal and illegal commerce.

What this all boils down to is that there is a large amount of potential weed consumption that the government is unable to tax if people decided to start growing their own crops.

They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do just as well — you just realize that it's not worth the fricking effort. There is a difference.

If you want to understand a society, take a good look at the drugs it uses. And what can this tell you about American culture? Well, look at the drugs we use. Except for pharmaceutical poison, there are essentially only two drugs that Western civilization tolerates: Caffeine from Monday to Friday to energize you enough to make you a productive member of society, and alcohol from Friday to Monday to keep you too stupid to figure out the prison that you are living in.

quote:

I'm glad mushrooms are against the law, because I took them one time, and you know what happened to me? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours going, "My God! I love everything." Yeah, now if that isn't a hazard to our country … how are we gonna justify arms dealing when we realize that we're all one?

quote:

Here is my final point...About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography...What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, or take into my body as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet? And for those who are having a little moral dilemma in your head about how to answer that question, I'll answer it for you. NONE of your fricking business. Take that to the bank, cash it, and go fricking on a vacation out of my life.

quote:

Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?

quote:

That's what I hate about the war on drugs. All day long we see those commercials: "Here's your brain, here's your brain on drugs", "Just Say No", "Why do you think they call it dope?" … And then the next commercial is [singing] "This Bud's for yooouuuu." C'mon, everybody, let's be hypocritical bastards. It's okay to drink your drug. We meant those other drugs. Those untaxed drugs. Those are the ones that are bad for you.

quote:

Pot is a better drug than alcohol. Fact! … I'll prove it to you. If you're at a ball game or a concert and someone's really violent and aggressive and obnoxious, are they drunk or are they smoking pot? [The crowd answers "Drunk."] Wow! We all know the truth.

Thank you very much, Mr. Hicks.

There are literally no good answers to this question.

It's an embarrassment.
