That would be a better way to present the scenario. The key, for me at least, is to aim for perfection and not let the fact that I will not likely achieve it to keep me from trying.

Good luck on the quest, it is a worthwhile one. Your character is who you are. Your reputation can be destroyed by other people, regardless of the truth. Your character can only be destroyed by you, regardless of any lies other people put forward.
