The guy's a good coach. And LSU will be damn good every year he is our coach. I don't like to see the fans on this board saying we have a bad coach.

With that said, I think we are stagnant and can't get to Atlanta with Les as coach. But that doesn't make him bad or even average. He's a great coach.

I think you are contradicting yourself with that statement.

That's only half of the equation though, right? You still have to bring in someone who is better. Who is this man? Is this man available?

I think his time is coming to an end. This year, Alleva fricked it up, but probably will see a repeat next year.

He appears confused, the offense has serious problems and it's systematic. I'm not high on Steele as DC either, though the team played well last night.

Les is not a good head coach. He's a GREAT HC and yes he will do more than just get to Atlanta before he's done here.

to be considered a good coach. you need to be able to develop quarterbacks. You also need to be able to change your gameplan when necessary

So he may not win much but he is a great coach?

What is your definition of great?

I think the man is a pretty damn good coach.

I do not think he is a LEADER. And that's what this, or any team, needs.

The players, once they get down or things aren't going to plan, fall apart and seem directionless.

Maybe that's more about the assistants, which is what I'm mainly thinking about when I talk about leadership here.

The assistants seem unwilling to deviate from the path Miles established, right or wrong. It's easy to say "that's what the man wants" instead of fighting the good fight. Going with the flow, even when you know it's a bad path is NOT leadership.

They are either not being allowed to lead themselves (a failure in top-down leadership) or don't know how to (a failure in vetting/hiring practices of leadership). The coaches seem more lost and less motivated than the players at times.

It's a big time program, lots of moving pieces. Miles himself can't lead all the players all the time. So he must delegate and lead those delegates. Just like he won't trust his QB, he probably doesn't trust his coaches either. Yeah, ego is probably part of it. But the worse it gets, the more he tries to do himself and the downward spiral of a 1 man show will continue. It's a self fulfilling prophecy driven by Miles personally not leading his leaders and trying to be all things to all people.

So a stagnant, ineffective coach is a good coach?

WTF are you babbling about?

good recruiter-very important in college
great motivator
players love him-I feel that is true of most player coach relationships though
x's & o's-not a strength...see most gameplans vs teams like bama

Let me ask you something, and I want you to be very honest. Did you think LSU would be able to get back to No. 1 after 2008? 2009? Did you think LSU would get up to No. 2 in 2015?

He's a great recruiter, great representative of LSU, great person with an awesome personality, great head figure for the program. Like that we run a pro style system and want to have a dominant rushing attack.

Struggles with adapting to today's game, developing QBs / judging a QBs talent when recruiting, is very stubborn and hard headed, and has a hard time letting someone else calling the offense or maybe it's trusting OCs.

Like just about every coach out there, he's got his good and bad qualities. If he would just let go of the offense and allow someone to come in and implement their own system without having his hands all over the offense, I think it would have a huge impact for the better. And not with just being more successful on the field, but with the fan base as well. Becasue everyone loves him as a person, recruiter, and ambassador to LSU. People have issues with him during games.

But we will see how it all plays out in the future. Hope it's for the better.
