The is no reason to mention UTs woes against UF when you can show the overall shitshow they have been for nearly a decade now. You will hear UTs woes against Bama though when they play. I think it's like 8 in arow.

uga never had that issue even when they were losing 3 of 21 to UF.

You guys were never quite this bad

We had seasons of 4-7, 5-6, 6-4-1, 6-6, and 5-6 during that stretch. These teams were going up against top 5 ranked national title contending UF teams.

Yes those UT teams were very very good but Florida was elite and pretty much always the better team.

UF was better than just about everyone they played that decade. Which makes it seem like it should be the opposite....UGA kinda stunk so it shouldn't have been surprising we got whooped every year. UT was really, really good that decade yet was only 2 games better than us vs UF.

how is that any different than UGA in the 90s? Look at the records I posted a few posts up. We're talkin about some really, really awful UGA teams going against national title caliber UF teams. Compare that to present day where average/bad UT teams are going up against average/kinda good UF teams. There is far more disparity between 90s UGA/UF than 00-present UF/UT

Social media allows more talking points than just 3-18 now. National media will talk about UF firing WM more than 6-18 bec it is more relevant. That never happened in the 90s.

Mass media shows more games...so as soon as it ends, focus will shift to Oxford.

UT/UF is just not as Important now as UF/UGA was.

Because the Georgia-Florida game is built up as a bigger game than UF-UT. Because you're a Ga fan and it got old as shite hearing that stuff. Because it's in Jacksonville, and our fans made excuses about how it's really not a neutral site, because of travel time. And because Spurrier is a dickhead.

I think UGA/UF is seen as a more "real" and authentic rivalry than Tennessee/UF. Tennessee/UF became rivals by division, not by history. Florida and Georgia have played many, many more games than the Vols and Gators have. The real "excitement" and rivalry aspect of TN/FL was in the 90s when both teams were elite.

UGA/UF is more storied and is going to be viewed in that respect regardless of how good or bad either team is, I think. It would be like if UGA suddenly starting playing Bama every year and kept losing -- they wouldn't get the attention Tennessee would get for losses in the same stretch.

So again I guess my ultimate quesiton is, how come you don't hear the national media and fans across the nation giving tennessee as much shite and tossing out "6-18" like we used to get?

I admit I have some envy of the delusional nature of the TN fan base. They have been really bad, yet their fan base remains hopeful and excited about the program regardless. I remember even when Doley was the coach, all the Braysus hope, and smack talk.

Well what are we supposed to do just give up hope and kill ourselves?

And most of the Braysus smack talk on this board was just bullshite trolling FWIW

So shouldn't that mean they'd get more flak?

I promise you the media gave Tennessee a ton of Flack and Peyton during the 94-97 timeframe.

The first question to Fulmer after we beat them in 1998 was How's it feel to have that Monkey off your back with 50,000 fans on the field around them.

It was a big, big narrative back then. It wasn't in the mid 2000's because we were even in the series from 1998-2005.

Then 2008 happened and we have sucked donkey nuts so no one cares enough about TN/UF anymore.

Probably because you guys play a neutral site "border clash" game with its own unique name

I'd contend that it was more the Atlanta market highlighting that losing streak than nationally, though I'm sure national media did too. Have you vetted one versus the other?

Again, nobody was giving UGA crap about Florida until you kept losing to them after Spurrier left and you guys were having your best teams since Herschel.

Probably because 1 is the WLOCP while the other is just an SEC East game.
