Sure he has some skills from WR that some don't have, but I would say that there are more skills he doesn't have that most CBs do.

He has made a few good plays back there but he sucks at tackling and he is out of position a lot. His switch was too late in his college career. Hopefully, he is getting his degree.

If TR started out a CB he might not be here for his fifth year...

He has more interceptions after 4 games than he had touchdowns in 3 seasons.

Guess he is good at hiding penalties?

No flag, no foul. He locked down Lockett better than anyone else we had

Not really since the KSU game.

LINK

Jones got called for PI on the first two drives. Reed was in on only 9 or 10 plays in the 1st half and was never once out of position, didn't miss a tackle (had 1), and was thrown at once (in the first half) which could have been picked off by a safety because of the coverage.

Jones was the CB picked on all game. Sexton was covered by a Safety for the entire game and why he was the one thrown to most. We ran a lot of dual Star formations (Garrett and Therezie out there at the same time).

Reed made a great play at the 13:55 mark of the 4th. He's the most physical at the line when playing bump & run. His INT was a great heads up play. In fact, his man didn't catch a pass all game (because he was never out of position) and he didn't miss a tackle all game.

I didn't get a look at the holding call against him so not sure about that one.

Also rewatching that, our OL wasn't really the problem with our running game. CAP had some nice runs up the middle. The perimeter blocking was atrocious however. Fulse isn't getting it done and our WRs weren't much better. Those perimeter runs are important to spreading the D out and opening lanes. When they are stopped at the LOS by one or two players, it allows the rest of the D to focus on the backfield. Playcalling was pretty predictable as well. And I'm wondering if Gus wasn't just happy to get out of their with a W instead of taking more chances.

Also, CAP would be getting so much more yardage if he could break the first tackle. That's his biggest problem. The inability to get past the first guy.

I had a basketball coach that taught us to foul and be aggressive on every play. Said set the tone with aggressive play so that the refs are immune to it and don't see it as a foul, but as hard play.

That's what Trovon is doing. Playing hard and aggressive.

Holding Call If the link doesn't go to the call, it is at 1:36:20.

I thought the call was BS. They got that call after a holding call on their line so the penalties offset and they got the first down after replaying 3rd down.

But 3 plays later Trovon got his interception.

Yeah, that's pretty weak. There are a lot of worse plays than that that don't get called.

Also, just watched the La Tech replay for curiosity sake.

Reed allowed zero passes to his man. Should have had 1 INT. And missed maybe two tackles.

So the last two games, Reed hasn't allowed a single catch against him, had one holding penalty that was borderline at best, and had one INT (should be 2).

The worst play out of the last two games was him getting pancaked on La Tech's 2nd TD by their FB.

I am a big Reed fan at corner but wed be remiss if we ignored the clear PI against KState. It was a makeup no call for the holding but it happened

Suits up for a play on defense, he and Reed combine for an uncalled chop block that costs LSU the game.

In a world where we've spent years playing 5-10 yards off our man, where we have lost games because CBs don't know how to turn their head while the ball is in the air, TReed looks like he wants the lint that is in his receiver's pockets.

It's a welcome change, PI calls be damned.
