On its second drive of the game, the Tigers were set back by a chop block that negated a 7-yard catch by Hilliard and led to another punt.

From the MSU game.

I did a thread last year on the best football series in the SEC West and this game got a lot of hits from both sides. Sounds like mutual respect.

Some of the hardest hitting SEC games of the past 15 yeras have been LSU/Auburn games. Definitely one of my favorite games of the year.

The stretch of games from 04 to 07 were insane. All nailbiters that could have easily gone the other way.

It is always my favorite game of the year. Maybe me just being bias and Auburn being one team that I have always enjoyed watching but I feel that this is usually the hardest hitting game every year. Looking forward to another good one and hope we can slow down the run game.
OP, nice read.

Jumping on the back of a player penalty never called before...and never called since. Complete BS.

Yes, but we used up our extra point Genie two weeks earlier vs Oregon State.

The 06 game was the best, like 2 hammers hitting each other over and over again. LSU finished #3 after drubbing ND in the Sugar Bowl and Auburn finished #8 and beat SEC/BCS champ Florida.

Good stuff. Why have you only played 48 times?

Surprising to me that we've played LSU more than LSU - Auburn have played.

Probably has something to do with Refs.

No doubt. I was sitting 12 rows up in the endzone, and I have never heard pads pop like that in my life. It may have cost Auburn a chapionship run, as Brandon Cox was never same.

"It was a very violent game," Tuberville said. "There was more speed than I've seen on the field in a long time. It's hard to find a loser in that game.

When Arkansas joined the league in '92, LSU had played more games against them (37) than against:
Auburn (25)
Vandy (24)
Tennessee (23)
UGA (20)

And had played A&M 45 times.

When A&M joined the league in 2012, LSU had played them (49) more often than:

Auburn (44)
Tennessee (32)
Vandy (30)
UGA (29)

But not Arkansas (56)

I'm telling you, LSU/Arky/A&M is a three-way rivalry freak show.

And yes, I said it, "rivalry".

Very random scheduling in the SEC until 1972. LSU and Auburn went from 1942 to 1969 without playing.A lot of series records in the SEC prior to the 1970's don't make a lot of sense.
