Note only that SEC schools have a tendency of hiring coaches that are familiar with the area as well

Why the hell would they hire Kirby Smart and make the exact same mistake they made with Muschamp? I've said it before but Florida is a top 5 job in the country you don't go out and hire someone who needs on the job training as a head coach.

What does that really mean though? I agree they are above hiring coordinators, but you can't expect to poach a fellow Power 5 head coach easily.

although i dont think he comes out of retirement this has to be an appealing offer to Jon gruden. Stay living in FL its only a couple hours further from his current home he stays in the state of Florida in which he loves and he gets to coach a major SEC program. I still dont think college interest him

Meyer worked out pretty well. I think most college coaches have some experience recruiting in Florida.

I think this maybe the best landing spot for charlie strong since he has coached there before and has very strong ties to the state and recruits it very well. Although he will not leave Texas, i do think he does not turn out at texas

I think Florida is as good a job as there is in the country. Foley needs to swing for the fences on this one, if not he can get any of the Grahams of the world on the rebound.

Bert won three straight Big Ten titles at arguably the third best job in the Big Ten and we convinced him to take on a colossal rebuilding effort. It takes money and commitment from the AD, and it can be done.
Let's stop acting like Florida couldn't attract a ton of P5 candidates.

I think that was a unique case. Bert couldn't get the resources he wanted/needed for coordinators at Wincy so HE looked for a better job with more resources at his disposal. Most of the top successful coaches at top 25 programs like that get what they ask for. Wincy was abnormally cheap.
I will admit that Florida can attract a few P5 candidates because half the PAC, ACC and B1G are cannon fodder. My problem is that when people throw out names of coaches, they don't often throw out the names of lower P5 programs like Wake Forest, Oregon St. or Iowa. They throw out the names of successful coaches at top 25 programs in the SEC and Big 12, as if it is just that easy.
MSU can now match every dime for Merlin that Florida would be willing to spend. So would a Okie St. or Baylor or most of the successful underdog P5 programs OTHER than maybe ASU. That is kinda why the tea leaves point to Todd Graham.
Point is, the era of a huge gap between a top 5 program and a top 25 program has gone away. Even Texas, who quite honestly is willing to spend more than Florida could stomach, could at best steal a coach from a program that wasn't even P5 at the time. If Les goes to Michigan it is for personal reasons, not because of the job or the offer.
The days of the kings and peasants in college football is long over. Now that is a robust class of knights and lords who are ready to defend themselves.
