Lets just hire whatever coach wins the FCS National Championship at the end of the year and bring on Zook and Orgeron as co recruiting coordinators and watch the trophies pile up in Gainesville.

The whole "We are Florida" crap is just that, crap. Look at our programs history. Spurrier and Meyermade some young people ignorant.

Yes because what happened in the 1960's and 1970's is relevant today.
What are you a UCLA fan or a Gator fan?

From the outside UF doesn't seem like a program that is comfortable paying a coach $6 million+ a year but that is what it would take to get a splash coach.

Couldnt agree more. People always say UF is a top 5 job but it sure doesnt pay like a top 5 job.

I think this is the thing that Gators can't quite figure out. We have a ton of money, very little debt, don't have a ton of facility projects going on, and we still won't go out and spend a lot of money for coaches. Not quite sure what happens to all the money, but it is somewhere waiting to be spent.

Otherwise I don't know what is wrong with Todd Graham?

He's a good coach, but the question is how long would he stay? He appears to have the rep of a rolling stone...he's had a couple of 1-year stints (Rice & Pitt) and this is his 3rd year at ASU...I think he stayed 4 years at Tulsa. Plus, he comes with some PR baggage with the way he left Pitt. UF is a better job than those but, based on his history, he might be seen as a risky proposition and UF, if Muschamp is gone, will be lookin' for a homerun hire. Don't think he'd be a bad choice based solely on football, but he might come with some distractions...

That's because some of the old big time contributors have cut down on the donations.
The stadiums namesake being the prime example.

Isn't there bad blood between UF and Merlin?

I haven't heard this. If this is not true, my bet is on Mullin, which I think would be a great hire.

And honestly just being able to pay isn't enough. Texas could have paid Saban $20 million a year and afforded it, yet they didn't get him.

There is a limit to who you can hire. Any top 20 program can match you on funds up until your AD won't spend any more due to politics.

The days of a Bama just getting to hire a sure bet are over. Now every program has to deal with rolling the dice for every hire.

come on now. It's called Tradition. People downplay it but that kind of shite matters to coaches. It fuels them to be the best that school has had with great coaches.

If WM can't make it, I'll support the next guy. As a fan, I feel like that is my obligation. We don't know what goes on in the locker room, etc. Sure I have been unhappy at times with the product, etc, and I get sick of certain players, but at the end of the day I support the coaches until they are gone.

We still didnt go after a big time homerun hire after Urban left. We once again settled for a coordinator.

The way I am. Its just fun to speculate and think about what has brought us to this moment.

I agree with you on that. Foley said he had one name in mind and he went and got him. Foley made a mistake.

I respect the hell out of Foley and think he is the best in the business, but he is way too conservative financially.

I actually got banned on GatorCountry for saying what I am about to say right now (5 years ago).

Foley is a great overall athletic director but when it comes to just straight up football and football only, he is mediocre at best.

Not always. Foley didn't choose Meyer did he?
Machen pulled the trigger on that one.
