If Alabama hadn't had its head firmly up its own arse, Bobby Bowden would have landed his dream job. Instead we got... Bill Curry.

I meant in regard to team and/or product on the field. The advantage UF has though is being in the east which continues to be a shamble. I doubt Spurrier has many years left and eventually 10 win seasons will not be enough for the puppies and their fans.

I disagree with this. Florida is the second best program in the nation imo. I think when UF calls, coaches will listen. Of course they couldn't pull Saban from Bama, Strong from Texas, or Sark from USC, but I think anyone else Florida would have a shot at getting. LSU may have a better team than Florida right now, but Florida is the better program. And it is not even close

From Sumlin's perspective, what makes Florida, right now, a better situation than A&M? Sumlin has a good team, stocked w/ practically three years' worth of his recruiting classes (I'm counting some of 2012 and 2015 is almost full). All his recruiting contacts, formed during a decade plus of coaching in the region between OU/Houston/A&M. With the Kyle renovations, A&M's facilities are as good as any in the country.

Sumlin also has a new contract that includes a $5M buyout for the next two years. He got that new contract after turning down Southern Cal last year. Honestly, I think you'd have a better chance at landing Charlie Strong if you pursued him. His history and ties are to the state of Florida, and UTx is just a shambles right now, and is in danger of being even worse next year. Unless Strong has some beef against UF, the Gators are a step up from UTx.

Hire Spurrier back.

At least we will beat UG every year.

I agree. the only way Sumlin would leave for Florida is $$$. So if A&M will match the $ I do not see him leaving!

And yet, Bill Curry looked like Vince Lombardi compared to Mike Dubose

If you are Florida and a top 5 job In the country, you don't go out and get a defensive coordinator who has never been a head coach to lead your squad.

Agreed. Jobs like Florida shouldn't be held by anyone who needs on the job training.

WTF did y'all hire a DC with zero HC experience? What other experienced coaches were listening to FLA when Muschamp got the interview?

Well, to be fair to Muschamp, he wasn't just a DC. He was also "head-coach-in-waiting" at UTx.

Isn't leaving the NFL for a college team.

Texas A&M is a cult and Kevin Sumlin is their leader. Good luck getting him out of College Station.

Ditto for Malzahn and Auburn.

This might be your guy right here. He's a capable coach who was able to recruit well at Vanderbilt. Imagine how he'd recruit in Gainesville.

I honestly think that
1. We miss Quinn- that D was HORRIBLE. shite show if I've ever seen one. Completely unacceptable to give TD's in a platter two freaking games in a row. Kiffin isn't a genius, but he isn't that dumb. Those opportunities were handed in a platter.
2. Dris has to be benched- Give Treon a chance. I'm thinking he should be given the 3rd series regardless to see what he can do.
3. If Muschamp continues to be an arse, and sinks with the Dris ship, I think Franklin will be our next HC. Unless a loss to TN causes an immediate firing (long shot but I can hope), and Roper does a great job as an interim HC.

Agreed. Sadly, I think we will be forced to go that route again. I don't see any qualified candidates that will actually be available.

I think your next coach should be Mike Shula. That Shula name, great offensive mind, wonderful family man... He'd be a great fit.
