You're about to strike out dude. Call it a warning shot. Call it whatever you want.

GP may have topped out with where he can take us. You don't fire the guy though. It will set us back who knows how far, and that's assuming you make a good hire. Firing a coach a year removed from winning the east? Craziness. Yes, I want the next level of conference championships and beyond but the quickest route to that is to enjoy the next few years of GP and pray for a smooth transition upon his retirement with the hiring of a solid new coach, breaking open the bank if that's what it means.

so your plan is to magically find eleventy billion dollars and just throw money at the most expensive coaches/recruiters.
I am not suggesting things outside of the scope of what this program could and should be able to do to remain competitive. Gary Pinkel already makes $3.1MM a year which is 6th best in the SEC. If we are looking to be competitive and truly being a program that can play for more than division titles. Im positive the University would be able to find a way to get the money needed to make a play at a coach which could make this program elite.
As far as my other suggestion some of those things would not require the significant and exaggerated financial commitment you posted. Changing the way we use social media and try to garner the attention of our recruits is more a mindset. But yes I would get rid of some of the people in the department and use that money to make a play for a different experience and mindset in recruiting.

I so hate to say it but my son liked Maryland's uniforms. I'm gonna have to give up on what I like on some of this stuff if recruits think it's cool and hip.

Maryland huh? I agree with you Reedus on that one. I have had the opportunity to play college football, albeit not on a FBS level, and I have always loved basic traditional uniforms. I'm 28 and as a child I was always impressed with the Penn State's and Alabama's more than anyone else because of their uniforms. In college I did jump on the swag of Oregon for a little bit, but I am pretty much over it now.

If we ban all the trolls and alters, this board would be dead.
Seriously though a little clean up would be nice.

Speaking of Jayturds, went over to PHOG.net and for a fan base that don't care about MIZZOU they had a pretty lengthy thread regarding MIZZOU's loss to IU.

Missouri has finished in the top 5 twice since 2007. The last coach to do that once was Devine I believe.
If you've got 7mil to drop on Sumlin & company whip it out brah

With my suggestions $7MM for one coach is not necessarily needed. Auburn is paying Gus what $3.25MM a year and we pay Pinkel $3.1MM the money for a Coach with the temperament and vision is already there.
Pinkel has done a great job of making this program competitive, and he should be applauded for that but its a whole lot left to be accomplished. Yes we have a couple top 5 finishes but how has that legitimately translated to long term success? Recruiting has remained very average and no big bowls under this regime.
And lets go back to those years in 2007 do you really think we could legitimately beat LSU, OSU, Georgia, or USC what about 2013 we showed twice we were a good team but no an elite one.
At some point we as fans will have to give up this idea that because we sucked in the 80's and 90's that being average consistently now a days is ok. I have never heard national championship programs fan bases accept this form of mediocrity. No 5 star or 4 star recruit is listening to that BS. And it takes the right person pitching that we were "close" to playing for national championships in 07 and 13. Cause when you go in the MATC all that 4 star recruit from Florida or Georgia see is a few Cotton Bowl trophies next to an Insight Bowl trophy in the cases nothing more than that.

I hear what you're saying and don't disagree with a lot of it but I think if you're talking about making a change at the end of this year you're going to end up setting the program back instead of moving it forward as you want. If I were a coach, no way in hell I go somewhere that just fired a coach who had won the SEC east just the year before, who has restored respectability to a program that sorely lacked it for decades.
Ride out the next couple/few years, enjoy the winning seasons and bowl games, put an orderly plan in place to locate and find a successor and have GP hand the baton off instead of having it taken from him. Then lets talk National Championships.

I understand your viewpoint as well. I just think in this climate you can get away with making a change sooner than you could in the past. I look at Chizik leaving after 2 years of winning a National Championship for example. That 3-8 season easily could have been looked at as a change in scheme for many of their ill's but the administration pulled the trigger because of the boosters and fan base.
I hope Pinkel recognizes what type of team he has and plays to his strengths, and have a 10+ win season and still win the east. I really do, but I'm looking for more than that as well I want to see 13+ win seasons in this playoff era.

Some times having to start over with coaching staffs are not a good thing when it comes to recruiting. The southeastern states they are targeting now have an familiarity issue with Mizzou to this point. They just don't follow us as closely because of us being new to the conference. Last thing you want to do is have a coaching change just when potential recruits from this new area are just getting familiar with the school and it's coaching staff. Turning that boat over by changing the coach might set you back considerably. Of course, like mentioned, you wouldn't want to can the coach who just took his team to an SECCCG just last season. That would show instability in the program also.
Just an opinion.
Just an opinion.

Is that how you live your life, lie, cheat steal, bribe, etc to succeed? For example, Oregon has become a national contender not because of their uniforms but because of all the Nike Money that has been donated. how do you compete with the big boys when your athletic budget is half of theirs, you have little history of success, and your University has only invested financially in the program over the last 15+- years? If you have a spare $400,000,000.00 bring it on.

Country, it takes more than spending huge bucks on a coach. What top coach is going to leave their current school for Mizzou?
MIZZOU has an uphill battle to contend with the big boys.
What does MIZZOU have to offer a recruit that is more appealing than top tier programs?
1. Weather
2. Facilities
3. Stadium size
4. Athletic Budget
5. National Championships
6. Heisman winners
7. Near ocean or mountainside
8. State Population
There are four SEC teams with Stadiums that hold over 100,000
Mizzous athletic budget is in the bottom half of the SEC
We have seen two top recruits who's parent or parents are MIZZOU alumns chose Ohio State and Oregon the last two years. We saw Devon Booker choose Kentucky where the players dorm is virtually a 5 star hotel not to mention their history.
Several few years ago I went to Austin to see the Tigers play Texas. Their stadium was like a palace. They had just finished putting in a new jumbo tron which at the time was the biggest in the world. It made our stadium look like a high school stadium.
We all want MIZZOU to win. It Is a huge uphill battle for any coach.
