Dave, break down this defense you speak of... I'd like to learn... make sure you include box stuffing and lock down as much as possible...

what the frick are you talking about? what do they call this defense?

They call it the Alabama BCS Championship defense.

Or just the common sense defense that teams play who don't want to give a 10 yard cushion allowing the opposing offense to get play-makers in space. We gave way too much space to SC receivers and you notice that our DB's were playing much tighter coverage against Troy.

Now obviously the Troy receivers aren't as talented but one of the comments that Pruitt made regarding the SC game was that we need to be playing tighter coverage. He manned up and took responsibility saying that 35 points should be enough to win any game. That's really my only point.

This has probably been brought up, but has Ray Drew played?

Yes... But hasn't had as much success as he did last season. It's early and maybe he has his coming out party this weekend against an young, experienced, UT O-Line .

I will say....at least the defense gets lined up before the snap. I don't see the looks of confusion and wild gesturing getting players lined up pre-snap. That in itself is a small victory because a large part of playing defense is just being lined up properly.

I still don't think the secondary could cover a wall with paint. However, if we can get an effective pass rush, that might help to shore up some of our weaknesses on the perimeter.

I don't get how we're not leading the country in sacks.

How is Herrera ahead of Floyd and Jenkins, too? I mean where are those guys? They should both have like 5 sacks each already.

We have only 8 freaking sacks as a team. TA&M has 16. Miss St. has 14. Missouri has 13.

Pretty sure our secondary will appear better if our DL was hitting QB's more.

UT - This is the game I hope (pray?) everything 'clicks'. It's a great opportunity to work against some pretty good receivers.

Defense - As mentioned above. At least they are looking at each other wondering WTF is going on.
Wilson - As per my usual conspiracy theory; I think a scout has gotten in his ear and told him to just go through the motions till combine/payday.
Bellamy - glad to have him back.
Drew - hopefully turns it up soon
Terry - him getting a chance to play may have went a long way for him towards the rest of the season.

Bottom line. This is the game everything should fall into place and we'll be who we are supposed to be IMO.
