If we go into complete ball control mode it will def be an interesting game. Our best defense is our offense against hurry up teams.

With that said I think yall will win. Im still sticking with my 5-7 - 7-5 prediction for the season but if we beat yall the rant will def be fun during our bye week before Bama.

Arkansas won't hold A&M to 28 points.

I think they'll be able to run the ball at will, keeping our offense sidelined limiting possessions.

Malik Jefferson is going to be our guest at the game. A five star recruit with an easy trip to the home of Dallas Cowboys is an advantage for us.

And maybe it does benefit Arky more... but Jerry is a piglet. This is unavoidable. If they weren't playing us they'd be playing somewhere else. LSU? tu? Oklahoma? A continued presence in the metroplec is important. Regardless of how much envy for all things Dallas radiates from Houston.

If they don't score a TD on every possession, it won't matter. South Carolina abandoned the run early once we went up 10-0.

If we decided to line up in the straight jumbo formation and just run up the middle we would score in 10 minutes instead of just 3.

That's definitely a possibility, and what I hope happens, but to me arkansas is a much better running team and their defense is better than s. Carolina's.

After coming off playing 3 cupcakes I think the offense might stall out a bit and prevent us from jumping up and forcing arky to abandon the run.

But hey, I'm often wrong, and I hope that's the case this next weekend.

Also, I hate that this game is being played in dallas. frick jurrah jones, he's an insult to football.

Doubtful. They allowed more points to Texas Tech than UTEP did and allowed more points to Auburn than Kansas State did.

Don't have to force them to abandon the run, at least not until it's too late.

Let's recap how last year's game went:

1st Quarter (17-7 A&M)

A&M - 6 plays, 75 yards, TD (2:39)
Ark - 9 plays, 62 yards, TD (4:38)
A&M - 9 plays, 75 yards, TD (2:32)
Ark - 3 plays, -6 yards, Punt (1:01)
A&M - 8 plays, 34 yards, FG (2:23)
Ark - 6 plays, 66 yards, FG (2:03 - ended 2Q)

2nd Quarter (Ark 10-7)

A&M - 9 plays, 75 yards, TD (3:30)
Ark - 10 plays, 82 yards, TD (5:12)
A&M - 7 plays, 32 yards, punt (4:03)
Ark - 9 plays, 72 yards, FG (1:59)

At halftime, it was 24-17 A&M. Aggies had scored on all but 1 drive. Arkansas had scored on all but one drive.

3rd Quarter (14-13 A&M)

Ark - 3 plays, 4 yards, PICK-6 (0:41)
Ark - 4 plays, 75 yards, TD (1:36)
A&M - 6 plays, 22 yards, punt (2:36)
Ark - 3 plays, 8 yards, punt (2:19)
A&M - 9 plays, 68 yards, TD (3:06)
Ark - 7 plays, 65 yards, TD (3:33)
A&M - 3 plays, 8 yards, punt (1:22)
Ark - 3 plays, 3 yards, punt (1:43 - ended 4Q)

4th Quarter

A&M - 7 plays, 57 yards, TD (2:56)
Ark - 10 plays, 67 yards, turnover on downs (3:22)
A&M - 6 plays, 38 yards, punt (3:51)
Ark - 1 play, INT (10 seconds)
A&M - ran out the clock

Here are some notes about this:

Kirby Ennis tore his ACL in the 2nd quarter. Including Ennis, A&M played 8 total defensive linemen.

A&M now has a D-line rotation that goes

1's: Hall, Obioha, Walker, Williams
2's: Garrett, Cunningham, Arnold, Henderson
3's: Jackson, Johnson, Manning, Robinson

One thing I do know for certain is we will not abandon the run unless its under 1-2 minutes left. Seriously. We are simply not an effective pass first offense.

Arkansas has no option but to run. If they abandon it, the game is over.

That being said, I'd feel uncomfortable in going man with no over the top help if we cheated the safeties to snuff the run.

This could backfire IMO. There is nothing more deflating than to drive 7-8 minutes, kick a FG and then have the other team drive 70+ yards in 90 seconds for a TD. Such a strategy could break your team's confidence.

This won't be popular here, but I think the ags lose.

Arky - 38

Ags - 28

If Arkansas wins, it wont be because they held us to 28 points. Even Tech scored 28.

That sets up for our offense even better really. Id rather aTm score fast as possible or go 3 and out. Keeps our D fresh for the eventual stop and eleminates the fatigue factor from yalls scheme. When yall do a sustained drive is when yall really hurt a team from yalls tempo standpoint and thats where I am the most concerned with Ark. Our depth isn't the best.

If we are within 2 scores at half and have had sustained time consuming drives I think the game goes our way... Granted we get the ball to start the 3rd.

But really this is all just blah blah and throw shite against the wall.

I am most concerned that, after beating up on the little sisters of the poor for three consecutive weeks, we come out in the same flat and listless manner we adopted against our last three opponents. That'll get us smoked against Arkansas. I worry that the team has now mentally trained themselves to play with this nonchalant emotional state of just going through the motions.

Definitely the biggest concern for me too. Really interested to see how Washington and Mastro being back help the defense against the Arkansas run game.

I definitely see this being a close one. I'd be shocked if it's a route

Ags 41
Hogs 31

Something like that

What gives me encouragement is that the majority of our TFL and sacks have come from the defensive line. That means we are getting a lot of pressure from our front four and don't have to blitz as much. That is extremely helpful in the run game and prevents long runs more often than not.

true but...

I would rather spend $10 on a Ziegenbock at SMU than $10 on a light beer at JerryWorld.

I really hope we don't renew the contract w/Jerry and instead just play SMU and TCU fairly often. SMU is especially great b/c of the Mockingbird Station DART stop right across the highway. Free parking and/or the ability to get super drunk and not have to worry about driving 30-40 minutes back to Dallas or Fort Worth kicks all kinds of arse. If Arlington ever gets their shite together w/light rail I'll change my mind but as currently is going out there sucks arse.

fricking all of this. I don't mind playing the game in DFW or it being at a pro stadium, I mind Arlington being in the middle of nowhere entertainment wise and logistics being a pain in the arse for the game.

I cannot wait for this matchup. Maybe the most polarizing matchup we've had so far this year as far as differing styles and pace.

I fully expect Arkansas to gash A&M but I also expect A&M to make the Arkansas secondary look like hot trash. (not even my love of Alan Turner's dreads can sway that opinion).

Im so ready for Turner to graduate. He's serviceable but takes himself out of as many plays as he makes. Our FR tho
