What is the point of that?

Still sticking with my 5-6 win prediction until I see us win an SEC game.

I prefer to keep realistic expectations that are based on previous performances and match-ups. Consequently, I think it's a bad idea to let expectations get out of control just because we beat poorer competition than we're going to face for the rest of the season.

Obviously, it's a subjective opinion.

Nope, nope, nope.

I think we'll be more competitive no doubt. I think we're still too vanilla and too thin depthwise to beat Bama, but we should at least do more than simply show up like the last few years.

Still strong in that we can beat LSU/Missouri.

MSU will be tougher than I was giving them credit since we basically handed them the game last year.

Ole Miss may be the easiest conference game we have. I think if we can get the Hackett, Ramsey, Liddell, and Coley ready to play at a high level we can match up with them quite well. I expect Ole Miss to be overly aggressive and we can trap them with that.

A&M is gonna be a whale of a test. If I see Braylon Mitchell or Duante Carr on the field for anything other than XP, I'll lose my mind.

I think our offensive set being grouped in tight and bringing WR in works against us sometimes in assisting teams in stacking the box. I'd like to see us flex the defenses out just an additional 5 yards to help clear up some space.

I'm still in the 5-6 wins boat. 7 wins would be a hell of a job by the staff and team.

Georgia is a game we can win if they come in dinged up. Unfortunately they play the juggernauts of Tennessee, Vandy, and Missouri before coming to LR. So they've got plenty of time to heal up against squash opponents.

Yeah, but look at who NIU played earlier in the season.
The same can be said for the majority of teams. Ole Miss has yet to play anyone worth noting and they still aren't ranked as high as NIU in run D. It's only 4 weeks in. There aren't a lot of quality wins around the conference. By that logic, there should be plenty of teams ranked ahead of NIU in run D, but that isn't the case. We're going to run on folks this year.

I'm not sold on this. Our kicker has been a glaring weakness on both kickoffs and field goals so far.

Kickoffs, sure. The Aussie has been very inconsistent.

Field goals? I don't buy it. He's missed 1 field goal from >40 yards. Let's give the guy a few more opportunities before we start claiming he's a weakness.

honestly, my expectations are raised but i think more so in a 'hey i like where this is going' way, i.e. my confidence is up in the coaching staff, players etc. the future looks bright.

so, i'm not necessarily really expecting a lot of wins this season but haven't given up on them either- which puts me in a much better hog state of mind than the past few seasons.

Cause for zero confidence in him. Maybe I'm too hard on kickers, but I think if you're going to take up a scholarship on an SEC team, you should be able to make 40-45 with consistency. 45-50 I'm forgiving on at the college level.

How many FG's from >40 yards did Hocker miss in his career? I can't even remember back that far, but imagine how silly your line of thought would look had Hocker missed his very 1st career FG >40 yards.

I'm not saying Henson is great or anything. But to say he's shaky when he's hit 2/3 is just premature at this point, IMO. He definitely wasnt' going to be perfect on the season. Who is? I'm not going to let one miss make me question him.

I just hope he doesn't need to kick any FGs against Aggie.

Pulling Henson off of KO's this week was a wise move. Now if we can just get him off of FG's. Bert talked about another walk on guy doing KO's for UNI but my question is, does cole hedlund suck that bad? Dude was supposed to be an all world kicker.

You guys need to stop with this business of questioning Henson on FG's until he's given us a reason to. He's missed 1 FG. 1. He could make his next 12 for all we know. Don't be Hogvillian retards that make judgments based on 1 bad play.

You're forgetting there have been a couple times where we punted instead if kicking a < 50 yard FG.

I think the frustration is from not even attempting or more so having developed a kicker that boot it in from 45. Especially considering that we have 2 kickers on scholly when our competition is pulling walkons to kick and using those 2 schollies on athletic skill players.

On the road, in his first ever college start, I'm not sure that avoiding that situation is all that outlandish.

And all I'm saying is that just because we haven't seen it, doesn't mean they can't. Give the guy a SLIGHTLY longer rope. I trust that Bielema is playing the best possible FG kicker.
