Am I taking crazy pills or is a full game suspension too much for vulgarity?

I realize he's probably a huge hemorrhoid for the coaching staff, but why are they being pressured for more than that?

Combination of things:

-The non charges against him back in December
-Stealing of crab legs
-Current Title IX investigation into Florida State for their handling of last year's incident
-Current focus on violence against women (specifically spousal abuse)

For Winston to then jump on the "frick HER RIGHT IN THE PUSSY!!" bandwagon now causes the University to have all the wrong kinds of publicity. It's damage control, pure and simple.

I think this was because of his past history. He has fracked up repeatedly. He is also an ambassador of FSU. I guess they figured the time had come where enough was enough.

Manziel is just a kid who is gonna do his thing, saying frick whatever anyone else says, regardless of the consequences. We've all known that guy.

Jameis is the guy you get nervous being around because you don't know what they're truly capable of. And we've all known that guy too.

I LOL'd. My buddy joe is on probation from the weekly bar trivia team, too much of a captive audience.

Even if FSU loses tomorrow it doesn't do much. They won't lose another game all year and the talking heads will use Winston not playing as an excuse.

Jimbo really should've been the one to do this at the outset. There's too much publicity about the shite going on against women in the NFL to have thought that half a game for Jameis was reasonable.

I agree with your rationale, but I like the fact that the university president took this out of Fisher's hands. Also, this should in no way surprise anyone when you consider the fact that FSU is still under a USDOE Title IX investigation for the way the sexual assault case was handled. Personally, I think it's about time that university presidents take more responsibility for disciplining student athletes. It's the president's responsibility...not the football coach's..to provide a safe and appropriate environment for students. Suspend him for a game? How about suspending him from school for a week or two? Then there won't be any question about whether or not he's playing.

If FSU loses tomorrow, they may not even win their division.

I wish this whole media circus crap would just die down.

Maybe a pretty white woman will go missing or some new celeb nudes will leak and we can all focus on something else.

I think this is a huge factor lurking in the background, and few talking heads are talking about it. The USDOE has the power to come down on FSU in ways that the NCAA can only dream of.

This is fricking stupid. What's so bad about saying FHRITP? slap on the wrist would be sufficient imo

Normally a player wouldn't get in trouble at all for it.

He's being punished because of his history and because of the media circus going on around football players right now.

I got a little aggravated at Manziel after his Heisman season, but he was just out having fun and not doing anything illegal nor demeaning to women. In hindsight, his shite was actually pretty funny.

Manziel's reaction after Hoyer's drive to beat New Orleans..."I'm so fricking proud of him" (during the press conference)

Dang, Winston already assaulted one. Now you want him to kidnap or murder another one?

I'm thinking this other internal investigation that's going on about how his case was handled is uncovering some other stuff and they're coming to a realization. I'm getting the feeling that he won't even finish out the season.

More of a retroactive punishment for rape, theft and disorderly conduct.

So how many of us will be pulling for Clemson tomorrow night? I know I will be.

FSU looked awful pedestrian and beatable in their game against Okie Light. This could be enough to do them in.

I think Winston will self destruct before he changes his behavior. He's either incredibly stupid, very arrogant, or some combination of the two...

Past Title IX penalties levied, via Wikipedia...

"In addition to its use within formal complaints submitted to the Department of Education, Title IX has been utilized in civil litigation. In 2006, a federal court found that there was sufficient evidence that the University of Colorado acted with "deliberate indifference" toward students Lisa Simpson and Anne Gilmore, who were sexually assaulted by student football players. The university settled the case, promising to change its policies and pay $2.5 million in damages."

$2.5M settlement 8 years ago? Put that in today's dollars, and how much do you think FSU will end up paying when this investigation is over? Don't be surprised if it tops $5M.

Yeah, it is too much. Might have been understandable if he had a history of allegedly raping women and admittidly stealing shait.

They might as well kick him off now because he'll probably get caught stealing Christmas Trees or something during the long December break before the bowl games. Might as well start preparing for the future now...

So, if FSU, Oregon, and Oklahoma all lose, we could see:

1. Alabama
2. Auburn
3. Texas A&M
4. LSU
5. Florida State
6. Notre Dame
7. Ole Miss
8. Michigan State
9. South Carolina
10. Georgia
