If Jefferson survives tomorrow and quit hiding behind polls I would love to debate the myth and dispel his arse into the wind like the Flat Earth theorists. Georgia is a great state, but be real would ya. Challenge is on the table. All I ask is a day to prepare like the Lincoln-Douglas debates. South ain't never gonna rise again unless its mongloids poisoned from the war,

I don't think "the South will rise again", but it seems there's becoming a huge divide between some states in political views. For example; Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Arizona are about as Republican as you can get. Compare those to states like Massachusetts that are more towards the left. The country seems to be heading into a something like a European, liberal country. The problem is socialism and liberalism seem to work much better in smaller populations. A country with 300,000,000+ is a pretty steep task for a universal change like healthcare and gun rights.

I say eventually there will either be a revolution to become more like the infant United States where states had more power over the federal government, or there could be a coalition of states with similar geographic and political views that come together and either try to break off from the US or merge their power together to get more power in the federal government.

I don't see any war coming out of any coalition or secession, but I still wouldn't be surprised if this happens within the next 100 years, because one man couldn't become powerful enough to keep the union together like Lincoln.

Then again, it's 4AM and I'm probably rambling.

No shite...that was my immediate response....Atlanta is VERY close to once again having the numbers to dominate state politics....and, by the way, once the empire state of the south turns blue the rest of the region will fall into line fairly quickly. This is going to happen way before the glory days of the old confederacy (as if there was ever anything at all glorious about the old south for about 90% of the regions population).

Ya'll may not know this but the good folks of Georgia tried this about 150 or so years ago and it didn't turn out well....

Not no but hell no....why would anyone swap a United States passport for a Georgia one? You would have to be completely out of your mind to ever give up your status as a United States citizen under any circumstance. Here is an idea though...for all of you who would say yes...in Georgia and Texas and Mississippi and Arizona, why not just leave the United States? There are plenty of place you could go...none of them less progressive than the US, admittedly, but they are out there. If all of you are the job creators you think you are, the masters of industry, the Atlas who is about to shrug then LEAVE!!! If you are as important to the world as you think you are then you will have NO problem finding a nation that will allow you a work visa and probably even Citizenship. New Zealand, Australia, Ireland...any of those 3 immediately come to mind as possibilities...but, wait a sec....they all have socialized medicine...so that won't work for you good, hard working, independent producer types...

I don't know where you could go but you sure as hell don't want to stay in Georgia and the United States because you fundamentally disagree with the direction this nation is headed in. This is, by the way, how this nation was started...loads of folks in Europe were fed up and came to the conclusion that opportunities were greater elsewhere and so they up and "runtofft".

If you would secede from the United States you are not an American. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that, most of the people of the world are not....

Well. Unfortunatley, peaceful secession just recently failed (for now) in Scotland…. but, man...what a Victory it is that the vote even happened..............

Ahhh yessss....the good old moral victory....and I assure you, the British tax payers agree 100% that it is a shame that Scotland is still part of the Union...because you see, like all of the red states with the exception of (Texas and Georgia) Scotland is a welfare state and a net drain on the British economy. Just Like Mississippians with dollars and Washington the Scots get more pounds from London than they send to London....

I want to thank you for the comedic relief. There is nothing in the world more hilarious or fascinating than Georgia being a self ruling nation. The specter of such a thing is simply chock-a-bock full of promise for hilarity, tragedy, un-comprehensibly idiotic happenings of all sorts.

First, imagine the reaction of all the proud, independent, job creating self reliant individuals of Georgia when they check their bank account and realize their fricking SSI deposit hasn't been made. That alone is going to be a source of comedic gold for years alone. And who will be laughing the loudest? The good people of California and Massachussets who currently see money stripped out of their pockets in the form of federal taxes and shipped off the the South where the true welfare queens live.

Who are the true welfare queens of the United States....the independent, job creating Atlases about to shrug in the south, thats who. What is going to happen when they are no longer able to work people below market value because their employees won't have the food stamp/medicare/section 8 stipend that progressive states provide? The answer is simple...those contractors and business leaders who elect politicians who go all over the world touting the cheap labor in the south will be falling all over themselves trying to get some sort of aid package from the United States.

An independent Georgia would be worse than a third world nation. In infighting alone between the conservatives and the libertarians would be enough to destroy any such state....that is not even to mention the fact that the United States could not afford to have a festering cess pool of ignorance, hate and intolerance along its southern border and would have to invade out of a sense of national pride if nothing else....so go ahead, secede....Shrug Atlas, Shurg...no on cares!

2 of the 4 are the beneficiaries of a direct stipend from tax payers in progressive states. One of the other 2 is exactly net neutral....only one of them is actually paying more to the US than getting in return...Texas. and, by the way, by less than 3%.

The independent, rugged, job creating "Republicans" in the south are none of the three. They are self aggrandizing beneficaries of federal spending. If you take that federal money out of the economies of the red states and put it back in the blues states where it comes from the red states would have to go begging for help from the blue states. Red state republicans are like recalcitrant teenagers throughout the history of mankind....living in Mama and Daddy's house, eating their food, driving their car and bitching about how stupid mama and daddy are and how they are so much smarter. The Red State republicans don't want independence...if they did they could have it in spades...what they want is to be able to receive as much federal money from California and New York as possible with as few strings attached as possible....just keeping it real, yo.....

This is from a website dedicated to Georgia Secession

"We have two very vibrant ports with which world trade can be accomplished. We have one of the largest airports in the world and a modern highway and rail system. "

Too funny for words

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA....imagine bragging about these things that are paid for by the federal government as if they were somehow Georgia undertakings.....right...Shrug, Atlas, Shrug....no one will even notice....

Yep...if it won't fit on a bumper sticker it can't be right....if Glen Beck and Rush can't completely explain an idea between commercial breaks it has to be too complex to be important....

Shrug, Atlas, Shrug...the world will never notice....

That doesn't make any sense. At all.

Serious question...is an independent Georgia going to pay for the shite in Georgia that the United States has provided? It doesn't matter...I say that is a low price to pay for the rest of the nation to be shed of Georgia Republicans....an airport, a couple of ports, a highway system, roads, army bases etc.....a low price indeed not to have folks like this in Washington any longer....

Only an American would want to save the nation, which, by the way, only has one internal threat and that is unmitigated ignorance that would lead otherwise sane individuals into believing the nation needs saving by seceding from it....
