It's because of a combination of the preseason rankings and teams ranked ahead of them losing. I think it could also be to build up the Bama vs OM game on Oct 4.. The Rebs should be where they're ranked IMO. You rip on Bo Wallace, but if you watched him this season, he had a bad game v Boise but has gotten progressively better and has played pretty well after that. I think he'll do fine in SEC Play. He might make a few mistakes, but I bet the Boise state game is the worst you'll see him play all season.

I guess 10th is what they should be ranked because that is where the AP pollsters voted them. If you are voter, you can vote them lower if that is your opinion, that is how this works each week.

Have you watched us? I'd be willing to guess no.

This. From the 4th quarter of Week 1 to right now, Bo Wallace has been the best QB in the nation.

I like Ole Miss, and until someone knocks them out of the top 10, they deserve to be there.

Idk, but the last time they were ranked in the top 10, they choked on the big stage. It'll be really fun to see their fans get up for the 'Bama game and actually believe they will win and then get destroyed at home on national tv.

I assume you're referring to 09 when Houston Nutt and company choked it away at USCe.

Serious question, do you see any resemblance between that team and this one outside of the name across the jersey?

A lot has changed in the mindset of the team and the fanbase since then. We may very well choke it away, but who in their right mind would blame OM fans for being optimistic right now?

I'd agree that they got this way because other teams have lost allowing them to move up by default, but if you take a look at almost any objective rating system this year you will see Ole Miss in the Top 15 and usually the Top 10.

Examples include ESPN FPI, Warren Nolan NPI, Football Outsiders' F+ to name a few. These systems try to really pick apart games that have been played and go as far as analyzing each individual play to compute how good and complete a team is.

If you look at OM's results, sure they haven't played a top tier team yet but the results of who they have played have been pretty stellar as far as complete games and results go. And the competition is better than just beating up on 3 patsies. Granted it was last year, but the teams they have beaten were all bowl teams last year and projected to do well this year (looking doubtful for Vandy). In fact, Boise State may end up running the table and if it weren't for Ole Miss beating them, they'd likely steal one of the 4 playoff spots at the end of the year so we have them to thank for that.

College rankings:
TAMU - 68
Ole Miss - 149

TAMU is flagship.

Won't bring up endowment.

Most importantly: 6-0 biatch.

I'm an Ole Miss fan. MSU is my second least favorite program. Plus, where did I bash anyone? If I did by sarcastically calling my university Ole Piss, I apologize to anyone I affected
