IMO both USC and UGA are in similar boats:
USC still has to play Auburn, Missouri, and Florida. But so does UGA.
USC already played Texas A&M from the west, and lost. But by beating UGA both are now tied with 1 SEC loss each, but UGA's loss is to USC, so USC has the tie-breaker. That means that UGA's 1 SEC loss is really like 2 SEC losses, because USC needs to lose a 2nd time in-conference for UGA to move ahead of USC for the East...
USC plays Mizzou at home but AU and UF both on the road. That's pretty tough. UGA plays @ Mizzou, hosts AU at home, and plays UF in Jacksonville, as usual. They get a bye week for UF (who also gets a bye week for UGA).
The edge there should go IMO to UGA, but UGA also plays @ Arkansas and @ UK who both have pretty capable offenses, and they are mixed in with Mizzou, UF, and AU to make for a fairly rugged 5-game stretch for UGA. USC won't play Arky this year and also has to go to UK, but get a bye week after them plus Furman before playing AU, and then a 2nd bye-week for UF, so that softens up the schedule for the Gamecocks.
It will certainly be interesting which team get's their defense up to speed to help with those stretches...
