But to get back on topic and not derail your thread you just need to always hope for the best. Try to keep good spirits and be optimistic. Especially try to wake up feeling this way and you won't worry as much. Godspeed my rebel brethren

Thank you for your service good sir.

I have no experience in this, but my husband's cousin is a Medevac pilot who served a tour in Afghanistan. She is a single mother, and her daughter stayed with her parents while she was there. She made it through her tour by care packages from family, Skype (I think), and Facebook.

Best of luck to you, and I pray everything works out for the best for you. Godspeed my friend.

A certain amount of fear is healthy, becoming immobilized by it can get you killed. Courage is functioning successfully in spite of it. Courage doesn't feel courageous at the time, it is more like terrified

It is a team effort, do your job so others can do theirs. The ATC guys were great in Nam, some of the finest guys I knew

Mortars were routinely trained at their towers and they hung in there, day in and day out

Thanks from a vet.

I will not be that bad. I was ATC in the Marine Corps and was deployed 05-06 to Iraq.
It is true that the insurgents/Isis try to hit the tower/airfield with mortars but they're not that accurate. If you never leave Kuwait you won't see any action but I hope you like the heat.

And what are you still doing in the service? You should be out doing ATC for the FAA making 150k yr.

Did you know any Pathfinders? I know Nam is when they got started. I want to go to Pathfinder school so bad. Ignore any hesitation I have in my OP. If going to Pathfinder school means getting put more in the shite, I'm in.

Yeah I'm not worried about Kuwait at all. Just the idea of pressing into Iraq. But, like I said, I just needed to vent about it a bit and this is the best place for me to do it.

Being in the Guard, I haven't gotten the chance to get a CTO. We have a program set up where we go to the AF Base in Meridian, MS for 9 months to get CTOs, but I haven't been able to get into it yet. Hopefully when we get back I'll be able to do that.

Good luck man, never deployed so I can't help you out there but listen to the other guys here -- a lot of them have some good insight.

Stay safe.

No, no Pathfinders, worked with the Green Beret/Special Forces, SEALS, River Boat Patrols, Foward Air Control (FAC), Australians -

I was with the Army Air Calvary - The ATC guys knew how to Party for sure

Best of Luck, we all Stand with you

I would be upset that I'm going over to take care of a problem my government created, and indirectly supports as we speak.

I saw what you wrote. It wasn't an explanation, it was a sad attempt at backpedaling.

Go frick yourself. You don't fricking know me you tinfoil hat wearing bitch.

I would never attempt to equate myself with any form of special forces. I'm not that badass and don't pretend to be. What I said is what I fricking said.

Fact is, I'm in a section of ATC that is the most tactical form we have. I'm literally in a fricking HMMWV with 5 different kinds of radios and two OE-254s. We can set up basically anywhere we need to and control. That's the point I was making. We're the section that gets placed in the most forward areas if need be to set up FARPs and other necessary LZs.

I only brought up CCTs because I wanted to pay respect to the fact that while the TTCS (my section) is the most tactical NON-SF ATC, there ARE harasses who get right in the shite.

So, I say again, go frick yourself. Don't pretend to know my intention you self-serving prick.
