in college when i became in charge of servers and account login policies, the guys i used to work with saw some things they can't unsee.
one guy (who we all hated) triggered a login script that rebooted his computer every 30 minutes on top of a few others. I also programmed just his computers homepage to be lemonparty, goat.cex, and a few others. i may or may not have gotten a written warning on that one.
oh the shenanigans. i miss it. in the real world i can't do that crap anymore.
ETA: other crap i did to that guy

No.
The Scottish Pound is produced from a different bank mint and is not the same currency as English Pounds. There is already two currencies.
It's the same currency, the pound sterling, and it's controlled by the Bank of England. The English have made it clear that a free and independent Scotland would not be permitted to use the Pound in its current form.
It'd be like saying that Georgia can secede and still used the US dollar because the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta issues dollar notes.
The Scots could conceivably use a Scottish pound directly weighted to the Pound Sterling like the Irish did in their early years or they could continue using the Pound Sterling as an unofficial currency but that probably wouldn't go well.

I'll be honest. I have always thought Scotland was it's own country. The more you know...
They have their own soccer national team so I am sure they were their own country, they just didn't have autonomy. I watched Last Week Tonight and if the Scots got to control their dwindling oil revenues they'd probably stay.

Will the Queen still have a home in Scotland for the weekends?

Tragic that the politicians and oligarchs are actively campaigning against and using all the fear tactics they can.

It's like they forgot about Scotland until they decided to consider leaving, then they hold up the "We'll destroy economically if you if you do it" card as if that's going to make people not resentful.

Oddly enough, supposedly the Confederacy had a lot of the US law and constitution on their side until they fired on Fort Sumter, making them the aggressors.

You mean until Lincoln staged the attack on Fort Sumter as a pretext for war.

False.
That is Welsh Jesus.
Ramsey is merely Welsh Muhammad.

quote:Another huge concern for the UK government is that they only Royal Navy base capable of being the home port of their SSBN subs is on the west coast of Scotland.
The Primary reason is North Sea Oil. If Scotland secedes, they will keep a majority of the oil wealth and pretty much immediately become one of the richest countries per capita in the world.
A free Scotland has promised to be a nuclear free country, so no one knows where the subs would go when not on deployment.

I saw that. I think the article I read said it would cost the UK 5 billion to move the nuclear sub base and they didn't think they could get it done in the amount of time demanded by Scotland.
