And twelve square feet of damage sent the Titanic to the bottom. A few more feet one direction or another, and Scott Norwood's a hero, not a punchline in the NFL; a few more inches and no one would ever have heard of Steve Bartman. It doesn't matter if it was an angstrom short or a lightyear short - the Titanic still sank, Norwood's a joke, Bartman's a goat, and we didn't win the SEC or the National Championship.
