Why were USC's receivers so wide open all the time? We made Dylan Thompson look like a world-beater, when in truth, I could have probably completed some of those passes to wide fricking open receivers.........

As far a grade, I'd go C-.

When Linebackers read pass unless a blitz is called, Inside Backers USUALLY drop back into what is called a Hook/Curl zone to take away those passes in the middle. Outside Backers USUALLY drop and play the flats.

I honestly didn't watch Linebacker play enough to really scrutinize. But it seemed they weren't getting back into their pass coverage zones. I remember seeing Ramik covering with what looked like man coverage on one of USCe's TD's. Saw that same coverage with him against Clemson as well on a TD I believe. Pretty sure both times he never turned his head back to even see where the ball was. Linebackers just don't have the skills or get enough reps in practice to be able to grasp many of the nuances of man coverage like a Defensive Back does.

I'm not a fan of Linebackers EVER covering a WR one v. one. Total mismatch. I believe in Linebackers dropping back in a zone, keeping all of the short stuff in front of them.

EDIT: It was Herrera that was 1v1 on the TD pass this week.

That's mighty generous for a group that gave up 400+ and 38 points.

But you have to average out the Clemson game. I interpreted that Jefferson wanted an overall grade for Pruitt from the first two games we've seen.

Clemson was a solid B, maybe B+ effort. USCe was an F. Not an F- because I'll give him Swann's INT which put us into a potentially very advantageous spot to win the ball game.

So a B plus an F equals about a C or C- according to my math.

TL:DR - more of the same shite just a different side of the coin. You realize doing this is the same as those people that come out and bitch after a game yet never post here regularly.

This. Chilling out includes koolaid drinkers who bitch about bandwagon fans. Personally I welcome all input. It's a forum for exchanging views. Even Obama might have something useful to add even if it merely confirms that you are on the correct side of the issue.

While you're one of the most consistent posters on this site and I value your opinion. I do not value the opinion of those idiots who come out of the woodworks after a loss. That is the absolute worst kind of fan who only makes noise when things are going poorly. It's pathetic.

One has to wonder just how many of those posters are actually UGA fans, and not alters of another team's fans...

I've already stated above, but it's worth reiterating- you can't undervalue a good pass rush. I agree that we probably took too long to adjust. But I feel that if we put any sort of pressure on Thompson in the first half, this game is different. We just couldn't get a push. Look at what the Bengals did to the Falcons yesterday. They established early that they were going to get after the quarterback and that made their secondary look that much better (they were playing really well already).

That's going to be key this year. Our pressure is going to have to mask the inadequacies in the secondary.

no doubt. USCe o-;ine beat our guys on pretty much every blitz. I'll will give Pruitt credit, because he mixed up the pressure...up the middle, on the edge, but we just couldnt get there. plus, Thompson was getting rid of tthe ball pretty quickly.

another killer and classic UGA is +2 on TO and only get 3 points. fml

Thank you for that bit of recognition. And yes, infrequent posters who make a point to bitch on this board after a tough loss do lose some credibility. I mean dang, they couldn't at least have a reasonable amount of input even encouragement leading up to the game?

I wouldn't exactly call myself a koolaid drinker, but I feel like that's a pretty tough thing to prove. It's just incredibly obnoxious watching people slam the team every time we lose a game and try to demand answers right away. Most people here think Vince Dooley is a saint and he didn't win a national championship until his 17th year as a coach of the Dawgs. I guess I just think that it's ridiculous that some people want Richt to be fired, and if enough people believe that it can have a negative impact on the program with recruits/players worrying about coaching stability and fans not believing in the team which hurts attendance for games.

Dooley was on the hot seat somewhat but remember that was before the ESPN/Sports Talk Radio/Internet era. He won his last SEC championship in '76 with Ray Goff at QB. He had some mediocre seasons in the late 1970's. Had Walker not shown up in Athens in 1980, I believe he gets fired in the early 80's. But we all know how the story goes.
