This is insane to say.

In two games he's got 540 something yards.

His entire production of 2012 was 1,600 yards -- which means in two games he's almost made a third of his production.

Similarly, his accuracy is up (hard to believe) and will get better as he progresses through the system.

I know you don't like him, but he's doing everything better.

If he was at Texas A&M right now he'd be getting Heisman talk.

It's gotta be the coaches, man, Driskel wants to run.

I think it's to preserve him (in fact I'm positive this is the reason), especially when we have so many backs who would love some playing time and so I can't fault them for that.

But we have to do it a little more often to keep the defense guessing, even if he just slides and doesn't fight for yardage.

Believe it or not he actually had a 70% completion percentage last year.

Cos all he does is throw short passes. That's why yards per attempt is a better metric.

I know we gotta preserve him but he should of been doing it for at least 10 plays last game and 5 to 7 plays this game. I'm not saying he should run the ball 25 to 30 times.

No man I totally understand. I'm not necessarily saying that either -- 5 times at least so the defensive end has to stay put or get burned. Gotta keep 'em honest.

If the coaches are telling him to NOT run to save him for Bama, that is stupid.

THis offense will go downhill in a hurry in the next few weeks against better defenses if Driskel isn't allowed to run.

Driskel keeping it will keep the defense honest, and just having him showing the ability to run might dissuade DCs from sending blitz after blitz against our patchwork OL.

He's been throwing way more downfield this year than before.

And short passes are apart of a spread offense -- it's a supplement of the running game.

I pray this isn't the reason because that's just stupid.

Yep, totally agree.

Said that and agree. Have to keep the DE honest and stop him from collapsing the line. If he has to stay where he is, that's an extra blocker downfield.

I did like that run in OT were JD ran up the middle and actually pushed the pile a couple of yards.

It's making me wonder if anyone's even played NCAA on a console before.

But jest aside and I know I'm preaching to the choir but: What do these guys think "spread" means?

Make the defense protect the edges to make room in the middle. Quick passes out to the X - Y receivers do that.

People think we're an NFL team or something.

If I had to guess, Bama will press up on our WRs, have a safety always watching DRob, and dare us to throw it deep.

I don't think they're gonna sit and allow our WRs these 5 yard outs.

Spread has always been a YAC offense. Throw the bombs when they are there but take what the defense gives you and let your athletes make a play. Were not hitting our deep plays yet but at least were taking the shots.

You didn't watch Bama play WVU.

I did, I'm just assuming Saban won't derp and let us do that again.

Not that I'm he won't derp again...

Bama's secondary is not good enough to do that, in my opinion. In WVU they got totally exposed and the fact is: We have much better receivers than WVU. What we will need is Burton to be playing like he's a man on fire.

My prediction is Burton will be heavily, heavily utilized in that game.

Also, Debose needs to touch the ball more. He's too fast and athletic to be underutilized.

Here is what I have confidence in. When the defense plays up on the receivers. Roper is dialing it up and taking shots. That would of never happened with Pease. We would still be throwing the same short stuff in bump and run coverage. We are not hitting our deep passes with any regularity as of now, but just taking the shot itself keeps the defense somewhat honest. Sooner our later we are gonna hit these plays and its gonna be a whole new ball game.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed he wasn't utilized at all tonight on offense.

At this point they should have Debose be a decoy and run go routes to the middle of the field to draw the safeties away from D-Rob.
