The Occupy Movement came to the SC Board. Don't give them any change or old sandals and they might go away.

Exactly.
I'll try to squash this.

Hey Occupy. I hear their giving out free sleeping bags and Birkenstock sandals at the OT Lounge. You'll have to search for the thread though, it's a hidden/secret post in the last 5 days.

Couple of suites at the Marriot Fairfield Inn in Georgetown.

Keeneland opening plus another something going-on plus the ballgame .... crazy weekend trying to find a hotel up there and we started trying to book in August.

Never been to the UK game. All this talk of Keeneland, though, has made me think I should give it a go in two years. Hopefully Stoops will have the Wildcats pretty competitive by then.

What's the stadium like? Tailgating? Atmosphere? I recall UK fans being very friendly when we whooped them four or five years ago at our place when they were highly ranked.

Historically Cocks and Cats were my 2 favorite football fans because both showed up even when losing more than winning. Before Cocks joined the SEC UGA had the monopoly on the Keeneland / gameday dates. Cocks have been showing up more and more for the double play and fan interaction is usually pretty good.

Cheese ... probably going to be too pushed for time. If it were just the wife and me I'd make time, but we've got two other couples with us and the ladies have booked us beyond the minutes we actually have in the first place.

Keeneland, Calumet Farm to tour and visit with a friend of one of the people that will be with us, dinner at the Windy Corner Market one night, the Merrick Inn another. lunch somewhere at a place called Gratz Park and lunch another day at Bourbon n' Toulouse?

I'm looking at what she has entered into my phone calendar and wondering when the guys and I are supposed to get in a round of golf and find a titty bar ... neither of which is probably going to happen the way she's got this weekend booked. Almost feel like it is going to be a waste of energy and fuel taking the clubs - thinking about calling the guys right now and suggesting we just leave them and roll with the punches ... spend a little extra time at Keeneland instead.

Having a dinner party at the condo down by the stadium tonight for family from out of town.

I sure appreciate the offer Cheese, but if you will, allow me a raincheck this time around. I'm going to be doing good just getting through the next six days with the ladies running the show as it is ... not anticipating much peace - but I am going to be drinking a bunch of bourbon. Got a friend with Heaven Hill who is going to be driving all the way over from Bardstown to bring us some obligatory Fighting Cock (tradition and for good luck) plus some other bourbons he wants us to try ... Larceny?

Keeneland, a place near and dear to me. Spend lots of time there when I can.

Calumet, former owners were best buds with our family.

Windy Corner, more upscale than one of my favorites - the Jot Em Down store (lunch crowd is all horse guys) or Red State BBQ (between the Horse Park and where you are staying)

Merrick Inn, neighborhood watering hole that got going in the 70's and probably peaked in the go go days of the 80's before the equine market crashed in the 90's. Used to run into BCG there all the time when he was coaching @ UK.

Gratz Park is a nice old downtown neighborhood. Nice area to walk around at night when the weather is nice. Probably meant Gratz Park Inn (which is not really in Gratz Park) and the chef was one of Wright's (Calumet) grandkids. Not sure if he is still there as it has been ages since I ate there.

Bourbon n' Toulouse is a nice hole in the wall cajun place in Chevy Chase - the area that buffers between UK and some of the nice neighborhoods in the 02 - Henry Clays home is a few blocks away from this joint. About a block away from Henry Clay's home is coach Cals home ant it is hard to miss. Owner is a nice guy and I like the place as the prices are very reasonable.

You can play golf anywhere but when you are at a unique place (like lexington and the horses) you do the unique thing because you can not do it other places. I love Aiken SC and Ocala FL but combined they do not have the attraction of central KY.

This is probably the correct answer. If your friends have access to the TCA that is the best place after the feature at Keeneland. With a 7:30 kick and the probable game traffic gridlock that may not be an option unless you are a native. FWIW, the UK W basketball coach lives in walking distance to the stadium and it is a pretty sweet pile of bricks for a W basketball coach.

If your friend is driving all the way from Bardstown, and he is open to the competition, have him pick up something from the KBD folks. Known the family for generations and they have just gotten back in the bourbon and rye business. Unlike many that advertise old roots, these guys actually have the pedigree. Probably know some of the Heaven Hill folks as the KBD folks used to do some of the bottling for Beam until they stopped bottling in the 80's.

Have not tried Larceny but as with any bourbon, enjoy what you like even if some bourbon snob tells you something else is better. After all you are the one who has to drink it.

LFUCG cops do not play so if you are drinking have a sober driver or take a cab. You do not want to spend a night at the City Hotel as a guest of the city. Have a safe trip and hope all goes well for you and the wives don't wear you out.

I may be in SC and GA this winter and really would like to catch a game or 2 when the ladies play the roundball. With family now in Charleston I do plan to make some trips down there in the next few years.
