I don't think that's entirely the case. If we're talking game breakdowns and strategy I haven't once claimed anyone was wrong about their line of thinking. I just responded to you earlier saying how ate up we are on our board about SC and I just didn't really see it that way. Trust me, when we play UT, UF, AU, etc our board will be posting a lot about them as well. We're playing a major east game this weekend so of course there will be a lot of SC threads.

And yes I fully realize our fanbase has a lot of idiots.

For the most part, I do. Most of the UGa fans I know here in TN are decent people, and I can actually watch the USC/UGa game with them. It was when I was living in Georgia that I had the experiences I mentioned.

Now, the UTK and Alabama fans here, however, are a different kettle of fish.

oh yeah that makes sense. Living in Georgia, you're of course going to see more of our sidewalk wal-mart fans. Just the nature of it. As you get farther removed from Georgia, the fans you encounter will be more down to earth I would imagine.

The UGa fans I know in Tennessee didn't go to college, much less UGa, but they're good people. We give each other a lot of shite.

I have business in Atlanta regularly, and a lot of the people I work with went to UGa or Tech. I tend to find myself getting along with the Techies a little more, but the UGa folks aren't bad by any means. Just fans.

The worst folks I ran into were when I was living in Augusta. Granted, Augusta is a dump, but the UGa fans there were borderline unbearable. I don't really understand what it was that made East Georgia so much more "in-your-face" about stuff.

WG, what's your background? Where are you from/based?

UGA doesn't have a rival. Some hate UF, some hate GT, some hate Auburn. Some hate all three. Who can keep up? They even have arguments on their own board as if trying to reach an agmt on who to hate. It's partially why they're so enervated as a program: their passions are spread too thin.

I don't have much to add to UGA hate week except to say that no one in their right mind spends any time in ATL unless they're on a connecting flight and Savannah is a second rate Charleston.

Go cocks!

Hey CHSgc, it appears that the people of Dwag (sic) Nation disagree with you.

But from the outside looking in, I definitely get what you're saying.

I'm done driving so will elaborate.

It is a very valid point that different UGA fans hate different teams the most. Someone in Cartersville might say UT. Someone in Augusta, SC. Columbus, AU. Valdosta, UF. That makes sense. But the main point which is unwaverable and undebatable is that of UGA's biggest rival. When it comes to the University, UGA, the SCHOOL ITSELF, there is only 1 and it's the same as it has been for 100+ years and will be until the world ends, and that's tech. I don't give a rats arse if Chris in Columbus hates AU with all his being and thinks that's our biggest rival..he's wrong. AU may be that one individual's biggest rival, but it's not UGA's. UGA's biggest #1 rival has always and will always be georgia tech. Period, end of discussion.

Now, I'll also concede that at varying points in history we've had a different "nemesis", as I like to call it, pop up. In the early 80s it was Clemson. In the mid 80s to early 90s is was Auburn. From early 90s til recently it's been UF. Those are teams that are a proverbial thorn in our side. But your biggest rival doesn't change decade to decade depending on circumstances. It doesn't blow away in the wind like a leaf blowing in the breeze off a dangling tree branch. It is constant, it is unchanging, it is evermore. And it's tech.

The only thing I know about Savannah is that their transvestites are definitely more entertaining than their sadistic upper crust...

I upvoted this, because this is what I've always thought a rival should be. But the fact that there is even a discussion among your fans is really what is at the heart of the matter. Even with Missouri and A&M not playing their rivals everyone knows who they truly hate the most. Michigan and Ohio State both have other teams they enjoy picking on, but at the end of the day there is only one true enemy in all of their hearts. The only time either a Clemson or USC fan tells anyone they think (insert team here) is more of a rival than USC or Clemson is in an effort to get under the skin of their actual rival... none of us actually beleive that.

The fact that some UGA fans honestly think Florida or Auburn are their one true rival belies the fact that you have a "nemesis" in the classic sense, IMO.

For starters, the majority of people who think it's anyone other than tech are likely under the age of 30. Think about it...people 30 and under have grown up their entire lives from the time they first got into football, all the way through middle school, high school, college, and post college losing to UF. It's essentially all they've ever known in the rivalry. I suppose it's natural for them to think UF is our biggest rival, especially when combined with the fact that we have dominated tech over that same time span.

But that doesn't mean it's correct. Again, this isn't about PERSONAL thoughts. It's about UGA, the school, the actual entity itself. Did people in the 1930s-1990 think UF was our biggest rival? Of course not, we beat the shite out of them during that time. Your #1 rival doesn't work by saying "hhheeeyyyy wait a minute! We're losing to these guys now and this sucks! THEY are now #1!" No, they aren't. #1 doesn't change....if it did change, it's not the biggest rivalry, it's just the flavor of the week rivalry.

Everything after #1 is up for debate. People who say UF and people who say AU can both make healthy arguments (I will say the answer is UF btw). After that, some might say UT because of the 90s, some might say SC because of the 2000s. It varies. But #1 doesn't vary.
